We are very excited to present the first look at the latest installment in our award-winning series. Sniper Elite 5, and we’re excited that so many of you can play it as it is coming to Xbox Game Pass launch, digital and physical releases on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S!
It was fantastic to see how the players reacted to that Sniper Elite 4 when it was added to Xbox Game Pass earlier this year and you enjoyed the improvements for the Xbox Series X | S – hopefully you trained enough with it to tackle your new mission, when Sniper Elite 5 starts in 2022.
So what can we tell you Sniper Elite 5?
Set in France in 1944 and with the impending D-Day, Sniper Elite 5 the players will take on their role as elite marksman and SOE agent, Lt. Karl Fairburne, resume. Karl is involved in a US undercover ranger operation to assist snipers as they attempt to weaken the Nazis’ Atlantic Wall fortifications along the coast of Brittany. Stranded behind enemy lines, however, Karl is forced inland, where he meets with the French resistance when they uncover a secret Nazi project that threatens to end the war before the Allies can even invade Europe, codenamed Operation Kraken.
It is up to you to take down the senior Nazi officers to uncover the plans behind Operation Kraken and destroy it before it can begin.
Your battle against the Third Reich takes you across the largest, most interactive and haunting maps ever seen in the Sniper Elite series. Of course, it is very important to us that these areas, based on real locations, are as authentic as possible.
Typically, this process would involve numerous visits to gather information, reference images of the locations, and generally get a feel for the area. Obviously the pandemic has severely restricted travel in the past two years, but we were able to use some amazing photogrammetry as well as our past location visits to create truly breathtaking environments.
We are also incredibly fortunate to work with some fantastic partners such as the Imperial War Museum and Royal Armories. The information, insights and knowledge they bring to the project are invaluable and help us ensure we are as authentic as possible to the time and places while ensuring that the game is an engaging and fun experience for our players Experience is.
