Bethesda fueled the rumor mill about The Elder Scrolls VI with a cryptic New Year message.
On December 31, 2020, Bethesda posted a tweet with the cryptic message “Transcribe the past and map the future”. In addition, the tweet contained a picture of a card with three candles placed on it. Little wonder that this led to some speculation among fans and various theories about the meaning arose.
On Reddit, there is broad consensus that the third candle represents the future mentioned in the tweet, indicating that The Elder Scrolls VI will take place in Hammerfell, the home of the Redguards. The first candle, however, is over the Sea of Skyrim, which, according to the thread, could indicate the arrival of the Atmorans.
On Twitter, however, the main focus is more on the coins at the top of the screen and the date on the card. With 4E 182 this is a few years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It is concluded that there may be a strong connection between Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls VI. In addition, it is ruled out that it is a hint to The Elder Scrolls Online, as this is set a few centuries earlier.
