At the end of 2019, 2K Games announced the development of a brand new Bioshock. A new work currently being produced by Cloud Chamber, a studio created specifically for the occasion. And it is precisely through the vacancies in the studio that we discover the first information about this future title. Unlike its famous elders Bioshock 4 should therefore be an open world game!
The Cloud Chamber teams are made up of franchise veterans and other renowned game developers. Of course, after two years of existence, the studio continues to grow and has therefore published various job offers on its website. And among them, three particularly grab our attention: those of Senior World Designer, AI Programmer and Senior Writer.
This final position, based in Montreal, will be responsible for supporting and empowering the game’s narrative team. In addition, the announcement indicates the profile that you are looking for and requires being “Able to write impactful, character-based stories in an open world”.
By cross-checking the other vacancies, various elements confirm this desire to offer an open world. On the Senior World Programmer’s website, we particularly discover the need to create a systemic world. A mention can also be found on the post of the AI programmer who has to design it “Systemic tribal behavior of a sometimes hostile AI”.
Of course, since Bioshock is still in full production, the elements can largely evolve before its release. However, the presence of various converging elements, distributed in different profiles, testifies to a real desire to work for a credible and coherent open world.
