Embracer Group studio Black Forest Games is laying off half of its employees, according to a new report.
The wave of layoffs within the Embracer Group will continue in 2024. A report from My city According to this, this time the German development studio Black Forest Games is affected, which has to lay off around half of its 110 employees.
According to a person familiar with the situation, the creative directors and managers of the development studio will hardly or not be affected at all by the layoffs. Further information is expected to be announced next week.
The Offenburg-based Black Forest Games emerged from the bankruptcy of Spellbound Entertainment in 2012 and was taken over by THQ Nordic, which is part of the Embracer Group, along with its intellectual property (Giana Sisters, Helldorado, Rogue Stormers) in 2017.
In recent years, the development studio has been responsible for remakes of Destroy all Humans!. We are currently working on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, which will be released for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
