Kruger & Flint Productions brings us Bloodhound straight from the 1990s, with references mainly from Loss. We are faced with a Very classic style and short duration FPS shooter which, at least, will give you a good afternoon of entertainment without major pretensions.
Bloodhound Drinks 90s Shooters
The main mechanisms of Bloodhound It’s simple: kill without restbeing careful with the resources we have since ammo and health must be collected manually around the stage. This is all we will do during the 2-3 hours it will last them the journey.
We start with a simple dagger and a revolver, arsenal that we will gradually increase with shotguns, crossbows, assault rifles… And almost every weapon has its own secondary fire by pressing the LT button. For example, pressing this button with the assault rifle equipped will place it in both hands of the protagonist. If we do it with the shotgun, we will hit with the stock. We can also jump (more for dodging enemy attacks than for platforming) and use special skills such as slowing down time or temporarily increasing damage dealt. The latter recharges by collecting magic orbs that monsters drop upon death.
In order to advance in each level, besides killing we need to find some keys which will be hidden around the stage. But of course, enemies will obviously want to prevent us from reaching these keys. Because the action takes place in Hell, the monsters will take demonic forms.like horned and winged babies, little winged elves or men dressed in clothes that will only make us worry. This is by no means a horror game, but bad vibes can be breathed in the environment at any time.
Short-term repetitiveness
We are not going to ignore it Bloodhound It offers a premise that is repetitive to say the least.. However, the title has such a short total length that it doesn’t even seem boring. Essentially, we won’t have time to get tired of its repetitiveness. The enemies also repeat themselves too much, and the objective will always be the same: Kill until you collect the required keys and reach the end. Is there a final boss? during the adventure, with his own attacks and, obviously, a huge amount of health.
It is worth mentioning that we will have various difficulty settings so that everything is more or less bearable according to our preferences. On the other hand, since it is such a short adventure, we can always repeat it to, for example, unlock the 100 achievements totals that it offers us for our Xbox profile.
A bittersweet technical part
The technical part of BloodhoundPersonally, it left me with both good and bad feelings. Graphically, it is several steps behind current technology.Although this is an indie game that references works from decades ago, this can be overlooked. However, there is something that should not be ignored lack of optimization workat least on Xbox Series S. The game manages to run smoothly without any kind of issues (beyond a few bug punctual which forced me to load the checkpoint), even though fps rate does not work constantly at 60something that is noticeable in a proposal with so much fast action.
On the other hand, it should be noted that it has a auto save game feature, but it doesn’t work properly. Although the game promises to autosave every 3 minutes, it can sometimes take much longer without doing so, so I highly recommend saving the game manually. whenever you can.
Finally, in this sense, we must talk about the soundtrack. Focused on very strong heavy metal, we will listen to music in the background while we slaughter infernal monsters. Are very well chosen themes that fit perfectly with the title theme, as is the case with the franchise Loss. Even in this they are inspired, something of which they are not ashamed since It is even possible to pixelate graphics to look like those of yesteryear.
Bloodhound won’t blow you away, but it can save you a boring afternoon.
Bloodhound It won’t change your life, and sometimes it doesn’t have to.. From time to time they also want such direct and precise proposals of short duration. The price, however, is in line with what is offered to us, which makes it very affordable to buy. If you’re expecting wild, unpretentious action with rock music in the background and a lot of inspiration from 90s shooters, this might save you a boring afternoon of boredom.. But obviously don’t expect anything revolutionary.
Bloodhound It’s available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC. Finally, don’t forget that in the Xbox space, we’ll always be up to date with any important news regarding your favorite pastime on your favorite console.
Pro.
- Non-stop 90s shooting action.
- Secondary fire for each weapon.
- Hardcore music that probably reminds of Doom.
Contra.
- Too short.
- Maybe very repetitive.
- Optimization is not bad as such, but it requires more work.
I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember, so you could say I enjoy talking about them a little.
