This is a big change at Activision Blizzard.
It was confirmed that Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick will leave his post at Microsoft on December 29, 2023. Along with this, Xbox is making big organizational changes.
As reported by The Verge, Xbox boss Phil Spencer revealed in an internal memo to employees that Several Activision Blizzard executives will report to President of Xbox Content and Studios Matt Booty. This includes Blizzard President Mike Ybarra as well as Activision Blizzard Vice President Thomas Tippl.
Additionally, Humam Sakhnini, vice president of King and Blizzard, will leave the company at the end of December, while Lulu Meservey, executive vice president of Activision Blizzard, will leave at the end of January.
Beyond that, Phil Spencer says management teams at Activision Publishing, Blizzard and King will ‘remain in place’, and that there are no plans to change the “management structure of studios and business units”. He also concludes his note by mentioning that for most employees, their daily work will not change, and that looks forward to publicly sharing more details about what everyone is working on for 2024 “when the time is right.”
