There was a time when manga and anime stories were reeling due to a steep decline in popularity and sales. It was so negative for the industry that many thought it would disappear at any moment. Before you continue reading, I must warn you that This text contains major spoilersso if you want to access the final arc of the “proper” franchise, I recommend reading no further.
However, three names gave life to this industry. They were recognized as the Big Three, being Naruto Yes One piece two of them. The third was Bleachled by Tite Kubo, and between this trio they made history. In this way, the story of Ichigo Kurosaki became known, and its popularity was such that in 2024 it returns through anime, with the third part of the famous Thousand Year Bloody War. However, first we want to take a brief overview of the plot and know some details superficially.
The story that started 20 years ago
It all begins when our protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, who has the ability to see spirits, decides to save a girl from an evil spirit. Although without the necessary strength, he risks it, but finding himself unable to do so, this stranger offers him the opportunity to become a God of Death, or Shinigami.
Thrusting his sword into his chest, he gains his powers and achieves his goal, although without realizing it he finds himself involved in a demon hunt, since his action transforms him into a substitute Shinigamiunder the tutelage of Rukia (the unknown girl), who guides him in this work.
Unfortunately, what Ichigo and Rukia did has consequences, and she is kidnapped into their world by another group of powerful Shinigami. He therefore decides to go and rescue her at all costs. This is how this story begins.
The story of Bleach doesn’t just fall on Ichigo
When he attacks Rukia, he does so in the company of his friends Sado, Orihime and Ishida (note that I am leaving out several details, because there is a lot to tell). Previously, Ichigo met an intriguing character, Urahara, who helped him unlock more of the potential within him.
Ichigo is half human, Quincy and Hollow, which gives him the greatest potential out of all the characters, as he has a a skill set that puts you at the top. Despite this, he cannot overcome challenges without the motivation provided by circumstances and the support of his friends.
Let’s talk about a few characters, even if this list is short compared to everything the series has to offer us:
- Rukia: the trigger of our storythe girl who opened up the possibility for Ichigo to become a substitute Shinigami. She will become a great friend and ally.
- Renji: He was initially an enemy of Ichigo, but over time He became his friend and faithful allywith friendly rivalry, always faithful to his cause.
- Byakuya: the first captain we meet, Rukia’s brother, whose ideals align with Soul Society. He is hard and cold, but deep down very noble and loyal.
- Urahara: He begins as an eccentric character, but throughout the story he is revealed to be a scientific genius and a former captain, who helps Ichigo unlock his potential. He is so powerful that even the villain from the first few arcs has respect for him.
- Sado: one of Ichigo’s high school friends, discovers his ability to see spirits and becomes a moral support. He is serious, but very kind.
- Orihime: Ichigo’s most loyal friend, warm and always determined to help others. Although at first he is a secondary character, over time he gains high relevance and becomes the protagonist’s love interest.
- Ishida: a Quincy, a breed almost extinct due to a devastating war. Although he initially hates the Shinigami, his loyalty is with his friendsdespite their differences. He is calculating, methodical and has a great character.
- Yoruichi: She first appears as a cat, but she is much more than she seems and her help is essential to Ichigo’s development.
- Aizen: The main villain of several Bleach arcs, he is considered near-perfect in his plans, which set off much of the plot. He is a very difficult enemy to defeat, and the most worrying thing is that everything is going according to his plans.
- Yhwach: He is the villain and king of the Quincy, who closes the entire Bleach story with a great war that shakes all three worlds. Their mission is to destroy all that is established and reassert Quincy’s hegemony, providing the heroes’ greatest challenge in their fight to save all three worlds.
Aizen is a villain who has transcended the transmedia plane, being one of the most beloved lovers in shonen.
Once all set, his foray into Soul Society led him to face a series of powerful enemies who, despite the circumstances, became his allies. We meet the divisions, where we find the captains and lieutenants who protect this world.
However, the true villain was about to be revealed: Sosuke Aizen, the former captain of the Fifth Division, who betrayed all of his companions in pursuit of power and a greater good for himself.
Aizen is the architect of everything that happens in Bleachat least to some extent, being a formidable, cold, calculating and very powerful villain. He introduces us to Hueco Mundo, the place where the Hollows live, the monsters that Ichigo began to exterminate at the beginning of the series.
Ywatch and the Bloody War of 1000 Years
Until now, I have told you little about Bleach, although it is certain that each new arc reveals much more about this vast universe and its rich history.
Believe it or not, Aizen’s power is such that It could only be sealed thanks to the joint efforts of all this, sacrificing many characters along the way. But just when it seemed all over, a new enemy reappears after years in the shadows, planning revenge.
For his part, Yhwach is the king of the Quincy and the final antagonist of the story.. He is a being that makes Aizen seem insignificant in comparison. He is one of the most powerful beings in Bleach and starts a war that threatens to destroy all three worlds, aiming to end the Spirit King, even if it means the extinction of everything.
After this brief summary of Bleach, my intention is to give you the reasons to watch this series, which returns with its anime and its third part, where we can see the outcome of the Thousand Year Bloody War arc .

Additionally, this beloved anime will soon receive a video game called Bleach: Rebirth of Souls, which seeks to recapture everything we experienced with Ichigo and company, with elements that will give this story another chance in the world of video games. Whether or not you’re a fan of Bleach, this is something we recommend you don’t miss.
The chosen genre is one-on-one combat, I would have preferred this game to be something more RPG type for all this franchise can say, but hey, less is nothing and at least that concerns Xbox.
