We’re then taken through an assassination attempt with the samurai Yasuke, who in this case is channeling the X-Men’s Juggernaut, crashing through doors and buildings, cutting down guards and effortlessly dispatching his target with a quick stab to the gut. That’s not to say Naoe has to rely solely on stealth – she’s more than equipped to face guards head-on, with her mix of agility and area-of-effect weapons like the kusarigama (a chain sickle) that keeps enemies at bay and allows her to methodically eliminate each enemy one at a time.
Besides the combat, there is one element that I am really excited to see Assassin’s Creed Shadow Grips will be the fact that we have to play for the first time as a historical figure, namely the samurai Yasuke. The fictional world of Assassin’s Creed has always been a fantastical story, with elaborate stories involving everything from Templars to aliens, so it will be interesting to see how they fit him into that universe.
