Cause chaos in co-op with Cult of the Lamb’s free Unholy Alliance update

In Cult of the LambWith the new update to Unholy Alliance, the lamb is no longer a lone wolf in sheep’s clothing. A diabolical new ally has joined the flock, ushering in a dark new age of cooperative evil. That’s right: co-op is coming to your favorite cult simulation! With Unholy Alliance, you can roam dungeons, kill heretics, build your cult, and search for new powers together with another player for the first time. But how does it work?

In local co-op, the Lamb teams up with the Goat: a dark, horned presence summoned by blood and born in corruption. One player takes on the familiar role of the Lamb, while the other sells their soul to the newly playable Goat, and together these fluffy crusaders can fight their way through the entire Cult of the Lamb campaign. In addition, you and a buddy can also enjoy new 2-player variations of existing mini-games, including fishing and bone-spinning.

Then, when it’s time to begin a crusade, the pair can use a devilish selection of cooperative relics to destroy their enemies in new and interesting ways. Equip the Wishbone of Marbais relic and when one player takes damage, the other becomes invulnerable for 10 precious seconds. Or consider the cooperative Cross-Eye of the Crow relic, which creates an evil eye that travels between both players, dealing significant damage to any enemies it touches.

The Lamb and Goat can also use the power of cooperative tarot cards. With the Power of Rivals, each player deals extra damage when they fight far apart. Bonds of Battle connects them with a beam of dark energy that damages enemies that touch it. Equip the Synchronous and you’ll both land critical hits if you both attack an enemy at the same time in perfect harmony.

There’s more to discover in Unholy Alliance—including many more co-op tarot cards and relics—but this should give you an idea of the co-op mayhem you and a friend can cause when you work together as a Lamb and a Goat.

The update also adds new cult buildings, including a nursery where up to three babies can be raised at once, a series of new quests, and a wide range of new follower traits to make your cult more varied, unpredictable, and stranger than ever before.

Cultists with the Night Owl trait sleep all day and work at night. If you’re wondering why a follower is dozing during the day and you see a moon symbol above their head, this is why. Followers may be inspired by a successful mission and return to the cult to spread positivity. Or they may be so disturbed by the horrors they’ve witnessed that they freeze in fear and fall into a catatonic state.

Unholy Alliance is available today for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One and is free for all owners of Cult of the Lamb. The goat is waiting for your presence.
