For Exodus, Archetype Entertainment is bringing a co-developer, Certain Affinity, on board to manage the AAA RPG.
During the Game Awards 2023, Archetype Entertainment announced the AAA sci-fi RPG Exodus. Although this is Archetype Entertainment’s first project, the game is behind the former BioWare employee James Ohlen, who was responsible for the first Baldur’s Gate games, Neverwinter Nights and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic . With Drew Karpyshyn, they have also brought another BioWare veteran on board – the author wrote the lines for the first two Mass Effect games.
With Exodus, Archetype wants to create a new franchise outside of the Dungeons and Dragons and Magic niches, which is why they chose a brand new sci-fi universe with a history that will span 40,000 years.
This week those responsible announced that they cannot handle this huge project alone. The Certain Affinity studio has been involved in development since 2022. As James Ohlen says, the game is based on an extremely innovative and comprehensive world. You create a universe from which new stories will hopefully emerge for decades. He is therefore very happy to have Max Hoberman from Certain Affinity on board. With his support and his team, we are very excited to launch this AAA sci-fi universe.
