Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) is made available for additional controllers thanks to a new controller firmware update.
Yesterday evening we reported about the new Xbox Dashboard System Update with numerous new functions in November.
Also included was the note about the controller firmware update, which we would like to explicitly go into again in this message so that nobody misses it.
Thanks to the update, the new firmware update for the Xbox One Wireless Controller with Bluetooth support, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the Xbox Adaptive Controller offers next-gen functions that were previously only available for the Xbox Controller of the Series X | S were available, including better cross-device connectivity and lower latency.
Microsoft announced, “We believe it is important to maintain backward compatibility with Xbox accessories that gamers already have in their collection to ensure we have the best gaming experience no matter how you play.”
Controller firmware update
Better cross-device connectivity – The mentioned controllers now support Bluetooth Low Energy, which enables better compatibility between different devices and a better pairing experience. You can play wirelessly on Windows 10 & 11 PCs, iOS 15+ and Android devices with Bluetooth LE for Xbox Remote Play from your console or cloud gaming with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on the go.
After installing the firmware update, these controllers remember a Bluetooth host (e.g. the smartphone) and an Xbox wireless host (e.g. the Xbox console) so that you can seamlessly switch between the previously connected devices with a simple double tap on the pairing button and can switch here. Quickly tap the small connection button on the controller twice and you switch to the previously connected Bluetooth device.
Lower latency – The innovation Dynamic Latency Input (DLI) has now been activated for Xbox One Wireless Controllers with Bluetooth support, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the Xbox Adaptive Controller. Dynamic Latency Input transmits controller inputs to the Xbox console more efficiently, making for a more responsive gaming experience.
Tip: In order to update your controller you first have to bring the console up to date. After the restart, switch to “Accessories” in the Xbox settings under “Devices & Connections” and select your connected controller. Then click, for example, on the Elite Series 2 controller on the three dots “…” and then on “Update now”. The update of the controller takes about two minutes.
