KRAFTON, INC. signs long-term collaboration agreement with Solana Labs for blockchain-based games and services.
KRAFTON, Inc., the developer of the worldwide popular battle royale game PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, today announced it has signed a business agreement with Solana Labs.
The aim of this cooperation is to be able to better support the development and marketing of blockchain-based games and services in the future. Solana is a decentralized blockchain specifically designed to build scalable and user-friendly apps.
Solana is currently the most powerful blockchain in the world. It gives developers the confidence to think long-term by enabling predictable scaling without compromising security or compatibility. Solana is powered by a single global state capable of processing tens of thousands of smart contracts simultaneously, enabling sub-second communication across the network through Proof of History.
Through the agreement, KRAFTON and Solana Labs demonstrate their willingness to establish a long-term collaboration for the development and operation of blockchain and NFT-based games and services. Both companies will cooperate in the marketing and development of blockchain games and various blockchain technologies, and jointly pursue investment opportunities.
“KRAFTON continues to look for opportunities to work extensively with blockchain companies like Solana Labs to establish our Web 3.0 ecosystem,” said Hyungchul Park, Lead of the Web 3.0 Roundtable at KRAFTON, Inc. “Solana is one of the best global high-performance blockchains whose strengths lie in their high speed and low cost. As such, Solana represents the best of the Web 3.0 ecosystem and its technologies. This collaboration gives KRAFTON important insights to accelerate its investments in the production of blockchain-based experiences in the future.”
“We are excited about KRAFTON’s ambitions to build the future of gaming on Solana,” said Johnny Lee, Head of Games Business Development at Solana Labs. “KRAFTON is an established pioneer in the games industry and we look forward to working with them on their journey. We are already seeing players increasingly looking for on-chain games. Game companies that recognize and respond to this development will be able to respond to this demand in the future and thus lay the foundation for their future success.”
The agreed partnership underscores KRAFTON’s commitment to capitalize on new business opportunities in 2022. Just last month, the company announced plans to enter the Web 3.0 and NFT business.
This is based on KRAFTON’s game development skills and experience with PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, loved by gamers around the world.
Since then, the company has pursued investment opportunities and announced collaborations with partners in the NFT, Metaverse, and blockchain sectors. These include Seoul Auction Blue, XX Blue and NAVER Z (Zepeto).
