Creating the crazy tea party in the upcoming Alice’s Adventures Special Pack of PowerWash Simulator

Get ready for a journey into the chaotic, terribly dirty realm of Wonderland in the Alice’s Adventure Special Package for PowerWash Simulatorwill be released on July 2, 2024 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. The new special pack includes five stunning new levels, 10 achievements, and psychedelic cosmetics for your character and pressure washer.

Together with Sam Jenkins from the FuturLab design team, who was responsible for creating this level, we are excited to bring you this exclusive first look at the Mad Tea Party job from the Special Pack, our first real experiment with player character scaling.

Start small, wash a lot

The Crazy Tea Party is the fourth job in the Alice’s Adventures mini-campaign. In this level, you must clean an extremely dirty table with a pressure washer after the infamous soirée. Sounds like a quick job, right? Not quite.

For the first time, we experimented with the size of the player character. You are shrunk to the size of a spoon and must clean cakes and dishes that are twice your size (and then some). Our community has been wanting a level like this for a long time, and Mad Tea Party seemed like the ideal opportunity to put this idea into action.

“We had the idea of ​​taking advantage of how characters in Wonderland often change their size by drinking potions to shrink the player character,” explains Jenkins. “To make a level like the Mad Tea Party a satisfying experience, we had to be very careful about what scale we wanted to have in relation to the washing machine. To do this, we experimented with some early blockouts to find the sweet spot where all the washable objects on the table were the perfect mix of fun and challenging.”

Does that make sense? No? Good!

PowerWash players have always loved the way the game doesn’t take itself too seriously, and we’ve captured that in the Alice’s Adventure Special Package. There’s a real emphasis on the nonsense that Alice in Wonderland and Carroll’s work are known for, which meant we were able to bend some of the rules we normally follow. PowerWash Simulator. “In the past, we never stored food in PowerWash Simulatorbecause food is simply not something that you would realistically be asked to wash. But in the Alice’s Adventure Special Packagewe’re in Wonderland, and Wonderland isn’t supposed to make sense!” says Jenkins. “I wanted to have food in this level because players probably can’t wash it in any other one. PowerWash Simulator Level. It also fits the character of the Mad Hatter to have the player wash his food without thinking about whether it is edible afterwards or not!”

Creating a table decoration

All the work is done on the table, so we set about creating thematically appropriate props and bits and pieces, from hourglasses to teapots, that create a fun, explorable environment for a miniature pressure washer.

“We also put a lot of thought into how the player would be able to walk around and jump on objects like the Mad Hatter’s hat, the candlestick, the teapot and the cake stands,” adds Jenkins. “So we made sure they were intentionally placed so that players could climb on them and jump between them without any equipment!”

Another unique design philosophy for this pack was the focus on maximalism, which really sets it apart from the base game. Beneath the grime lie opulent, eccentric and busy prints that make for an extremely satisfying reveal with each pass through the washer.

“I’m really excited to see players’ reactions to this pack,” Jenkins concluded. “It’s got a lot of humor in the story and the grime, a lot of really satisfying and quirky environments to explore, and a lot of nods to the original Alice story that I think people will appreciate.”
