CrossfireX: Become a legendary mercenary

Mercenary Attention: It’s almost time to fight alongside the Global Risk and Black List factions, though CrossfireX makes its console debut on February 10, 2022. The world-famous first person shooter hits the Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One consoles early next year, and we can’t wait to see where the battle takes Xbox gamers.

It’s been a long way for CrossfireX, full of excitement and feedback from our passionate community. We apologize for the failure to live up to expectations for the game’s 2021 release. The entire team was aiming for a 2021 release date and unfortunately we had to make the difficult decision of postponing the game’s launch to early 2022 CFX Team wants to respond to this passion we’ve seen and share more about the game as we work together towards its February release.

We wanted to give another insight into the single player campaign with a new trailer at The Game Awards 2021. CrossfireXThe single player component of Remedy Entertainment is developed by the master storytellers. Working with Remedy made it possible CrossfireX to really immerse yourself in the narrative possibilities that have existed in this franchise, and we thank them for allowing them to bring these possibilities to life. We can’t wait for you to try Operation Catalyst and Operation Specter when both campaigns launch together with the CFX Multiplayer in February 2022.

Speaking of the multiplayer component: a question that has been on the mind of the community since the summer is: what exactly are the legendary mercenaries? Teased by Executive Producer Mr. Boo, these characters are special transformations found in the game’s Modern modes.

Previously, the Legendary Mercenaries were the final phase of the tactical growth system that allows players to choose temporary buffs during matches in Modern Mode. Since then they have been separated due to balancing issues and now you can become these fearsome enemies through the exclusive Kill Streaks and Death Streaks in Modern mode. We wanted to share more information about these legendary mercenaries, also known as The Boogieman.

Kill streaks provide additional game-specific advantages by securing enough kills one after the other. Death streaks are slower to activate, but allow you to make a comeback and turn the battlefield around. At the end of each of these streaks, you have a chance to transform into the Death King. This legendary mercenary who wields two SMGs twice, making him devastating in hand-to-hand combat. In addition to his unique weapon, the Death King also has higher HP and speed compared to normal mercenaries. Its ultimate ability allows him to blink backwards after an AOE attack, making it a useful tool for escaping from dangerous situations.

The Death King is just one of many different legendary mercenaries. With each multiplayer season, The Boogieman is updated and offers new skills and abilities to further demonstrate your dominance on the battlefield.
