When we saw the Cyberpunk 2077 trailer years ago, no one thought the game would look like this. Then our fears turned out to be true when we saw how widely console versions were covered, being the One AND PS4 versions a complete disaster. The One X version looked the best, but it was still a far cry from the PC version.
Then the hopes were placed on the new consoles, and there we already began to wait for the promised ray tracing, a function that never really came. Even with later Xbox Series X updates, this mode was left out adding only the shadows, and yes, it looks much better, but it lacks “vitamins”. Something that seems to be changing three years after the game saw the light of day.
Update 2.0 will be the one that finally gives us a full version on consoles
We now know that Cyberpunk 2077 menu images seen in Digital Foundry’s coverage of the Phantom Liberty expansion revealed that the game will add ray-traced reflections to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X with the upcoming 2.0 update. This adds to the shy ray tracing available to the shader.
With the 2.0 update applied, the video tab on the Cyberpunk 2077 menu screen reveals that Ray Tracing mode will provide photorealistic rendering shadows and highlights at 30 fps with dynamic 4K resolution scaling.
