In What lies in the multiverse, play as an unknown-name child who meets Everett, an eccentric and sarcastic otherworldly scientist with the ability to jump between dimensions. You’ll embark on a journey with him, discovering twisted realities in your own way, escaping a colorful cast of characters who want to capture you, while learning about Everett’s mysterious past and motivations. It’s a journey of discovery filled with absurd and black humor, existential questions and relatable characters from every nook and corner.
At its core, it’s a pixel art puzzle/platformer game where you switch between different universes (acting as different versions of the level you’re in) to solve puzzles and progress through the story . You can see all kinds of universes! Frozen, where the ice makes your steps slippery and lets you jump incredibly far. Poisoned ones that you can only stay in for a short amount of time without running out of breath. Or the other way around, where everything is upside down, even gravity! These all vary in aesthetics, theme, mechanics, narrative, and even music! There’s a whole multiverse to explore in this little adventure. Worldbuilding is also an important factor in the narrative, although it’s optional for the more curious player. Why are these universes like this? What happened to all these people? And why is a warrior granny fighting a horde of yellow-eyed zombies? If you pay attention during your adventure, you might come across some abandoned objects of people from all sorts of worlds that you can collect to delve deeper into the narrative or just to satisfy your inner collecting spirit.
It’s a fun little adventure full of surprises, and we’re incredibly excited (and nervous!) to bring it all to you on Xbox today! It’s been a hard few years of work in which many incredible people have done their best to make this story as special as it is today, so we hope you enjoy it as much as we did when we made it < 3
