Dead by Daylight is coming to the big screen! The Canadian game studio is collaborating with Atomic Monster and Blumhouse to bring the film to life.
Behavior Interactive is pleased to announce that the Canadian games studio is collaborating with Atomic Monster and Blumhouse to develop a feature film adaptation of Behaviour’s worldwide hit horror multiplayer game Dead by Daylight.
“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with two giants of the horror film industry, Jason Blum and James Wan, to continue expanding the Dead by Daylight universe,” said Stephen Mulrooney, Executive Vice President at Behavior Interactive. “Our motto at Behavior is to create unique moments together. Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are the ideal partners to bring Dead by Daylight’s gory performance to the big screen.”
James Wan, Founder and CEO of Atomic Monster, adds: “With Dead by Daylight, the Behavior team has crafted a love letter to the world of horror, creating an incredible setting full of atmosphere and terrifying villains, perfect for a spooky film adaptation . At Atomic Monster, we are huge fans of the game and are excited to bring this terrifying world to theaters in partnership with Blumhouse.”
The companies begin searching for a director and screenwriter to adapt the Dead by Daylight series to a new medium.
“We know there are many Dead by Daylight fans out there and we knew it was imperative that we find someone who appreciates and loves the world as much as we do to help us bring the game to the big screen says Jason Blum, Blumhouse Founder and CEO. “We know our partners at Behavior and Atomic Monster will help us bring the best version of this game to life.”
Since launching in 2016, Dead by Daylight has reached over 50 million players worldwide, with two million players entering the Nebula every day. The game features a vast universe where classic horror survives and continues to grow. Having welcomed iconic characters from TV, film and gaming, it is only fitting that the franchise expands to new horizons to tell its story.
James Wan, Jason Blum and Stephen Mulrooney are producing the film. Behavior Interactive’s Rémi Racine, Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Judson Scott, Blumhouse’s Ryan Turek and Striker Entertainment’s Russell Binder are executive producers.
