The excavator
Out of the darkness emerges a terrifying disgust. His presence darkens the air and robs all hope. The Dredge and its exciting new power – reign of darkness – arrived Dead by daylightthat introduces a new level of horror action to The Entity’s Realm.
The Dredges reign of darkness Might grants several special abilities, including The twilight. Use The Gloaming to teleport to any locker on the map and create one rest (think of it like a spectral placeholder). With numerous lockers positioned in various places on each map, this gives The Dredge some serious mobility. Should you choose not to teleport, you can return to yours instead rest and regain lost ground.
Whether you want to learn The Dredge or increase your chances of surviving, we’ve got a few tips and tricks for you.
Three tips for playing as a Dredge
Teleport Techniques
While the Dredge’s teleportation is an effective means of traversing the map, it can also be used to great effect in a chase. If you see a Survivor heading towards an extended loop – say a Main Building or the Killer’s Shack – there’s likely a Locker nearby. Use your teleportation to make predictions, emerge from a locker and clip them.
As the trial progresses and the generators dwindle, be careful not to get bogged down. Pay attention to how generators are spread across the map and try to figure out which ones are worth holding on to. It might be tempting to teleport across the map to protect a lone generator, but this cooldown can prove costly when survivors take advantage of your absence — especially late-game.
close loops
With a high skill cap, the remnant aspect of The Dredge’s Power allows for plenty of exciting mind games. As a survivor tries to lure you into a long, loopy area, strategically create a remnant of key chokepoints to effectively cut them off in the middle of the pursuit.
Consider creating a remnant near a pallet or window, as it’s likely a survivor will want to make use of it. If survivors seem intent on running around a structure multiple times, be prepared and use your holdover to close the distance. Remember that survivors can remove your remnant through direct contact, so try to predict their movement.
The twilight
The Dredge is darkness manifest, so naturally it thrives when the lights go down. As the night cycle begins, remember that survivors will be far more disoriented than you are. Know that you have the advantage in chases, and areas that survivors previously navigated skillfully could now cause them problems.
That’s not to say Nightfall guarantees a successful ending to your hunt – but it’s worth noting that survivors’ vision will be severely limited. Is there a sight more beautiful than a survivor running into a wall?
We hope you enjoy playing as The Dredge and wish you the best of luck in the upcoming trials… but what happens when you cross his path as an opponent?
Three tips to survive the dredge
The Dredge is an oppressive and disturbing killer that can quickly darken a Survivor’s day. Only the bravest stand a chance — and new survivor Haddie Kaur isn’t lacking in that regard.
Haunted by terrifying visions since childhood, Haddie Kaur was driven to face horrors beyond the realms. During her travels to the enchanted corners of the world – which she reported in detail in her podcast Depredations of the Abyss – She developed several tools to deal with this terrible new threat.
Should you face the Dredge, whether as Haddie or another survivor, here are a few helpful tips to light up the darkness.
Manage The Nightfall
With all the excitement that a test brings, it can be easy to lose track of the HUD. When facing the Dredge, however, it helps to pay close attention to the meter surrounding your character icon. Knowing when the map is getting darker will keep you one step ahead. It might sound like a small suggestion, but keeping a close eye on this HUD could mean the difference between life and death, as certain areas can really mean trouble in the dark.
Watch out for signs
If The Dredge is chasing you, you can choose to go to the next loop, the main building, or Killer’s Shack. If there’s a locker nearby, The Dredge can teleport and emerge from it, interrupting you in the process. Keep an eye on his arm – if you see him rising, The Dredge is charging his power right now, so be wary of a teleportation game. It’s also wise to watch lockers for signs of his presence, as The Dredge leaves subtle visual and audio cues while in one.
Watch out for those locks
While The Dredge can teleport across the map, you can hinder this process by installing a lock on a locker door. This will delay the dredge’s exit as it will take a few seconds for the lock to be destroyed. It may be tempting to increase security at the start of a match, but Remember that each locker can only be locked once. If The Dredge smashes every lock halfway through a trial, you may be in for a challenging endgame.
