Frank West Returns to the Busiest Shopping Center in History
It is always time to remember the former glories (even if it is for the second time) of titles that were a kind of revolution in their time, and Died with a start Deluxe Remastered It is already with us. This new version of the classic Capcom It comes loaded with special tribute costumes, 4K resolution and 60 FPS, and new textures.
Here I’m not going to analyze the game itself, but rather this new review from Capcom that continues to suffer from the same mistakes (to my personal taste): the incessant pressure of time. Having to travel hundreds and hundreds of meters with hundreds of zombies in front of you is fun, but not when I have to go back and forth to save people.
Graphically remarkable
It’s true that the game looks really good, with new textures and character models, but it doesn’t reach the quality of the close-up remakes of Resident Evil. These remakes not only provide redesigned models, but elements are added to the gameplay and animations, an improved camera and much more.
Although it has reached 4K and 60 FPS, the previous remaster already did it, but it is still noticeable that the faces and movements of the characters are the same as in 2006 and do not have the magnificent work of the other remakes.
The Spanish dub certainly sounds good, with a Frank West remarkable and it is a good addition, bringing the voices to different languages like Spanish from Europe and Latin America. It also uses 3D technologies so that the sound effects give us a good immersion in the action.
Minor gameplay changes
Regarding the slight (but necessary) changes compared to the original and the previous remaster, the option to pass time or improve actions to get rid of zombies when they catch you has been added. Save points have also been added to save us time, in addition to the typical autosave (thanks for saving us from walking) and thus have a better movement strategy.
Regarding photography, some aspects have been improved and extra points added, but some things have also been removed, such as the “eroticism” bonus? Although we also have new filters and the characters behave differently when you frame them.
Some items that were removed from the original game are brought back, such as the rocket launcher and other items, which is definitely a small but nice addition.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster continues to be synonymous with fun and madness
Dead Rising pays homage to the classic George A. Romero dawn of the deadbut in a much crazier and more imaginative way when it comes to killing huge masses of zombies. The undead roam freely around the mall, we assume during typical sales, and we have plenty of weapons to kill them.
From a baseball bat to a lawnmower or a convertible, they are enough to destroy these brain eaters and leave rivers of rotten blood in our wake. As we said, there are a multitude of weapons and now, we can see their resistance or their remaining capacity to better manage their uses.
Time is our enemy, and we’ll have to choose our missions wisely, collect the exclusives on time, and not hang around too much. The 72-hour time limit continues to overwhelm me, as I’d like to wander around the mall at will, looking for collectibles, taking impossible photos, and saving as many survivors as possible.
Conclusions
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a good improvement on the classic, increasing the quality of the other 2016 remasters, even if it’s really just visuals, better facial expressions, plus the addition of Spanish voice acting. The game remains pretty much the same, save for a few minor things like improved release actions and photography.
However, there is still the same problem for today’s players that already gave us additional pressure with time against. In addition, the weird behavior of the NPC AI is still not fixed and the animations are exactly the same, which takes me out of the situation a bit.
The truth is that I’m not going to deny that it’s a great game, but perhaps the opportunity to revive a practically forgotten saga with a good remake and new game modes that gave more freedom was lost.
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is available on Xbox Series X|SPlaystation 5 and PC.
