The Mortal Kombat franchise celebrates 30 years since the launch of its first video game, in this context, several actions are organized to celebrate the entire journey of games and films through the industry. Despite this, and that we haven’t had a new game in the saga for a long time, EdBoon, co-creator of the game, comments that we will not have an announcement on the occasion of this date, because we will have to wait.
Mortal Kombat 11 was released in 2019, since then NetherRealm Studios has released several mobile games, creating variants for Mortal Kombat 11 Mobile and Injustice 2 Mobile. Beyond that, it was expected that for the anniversary of the saga they would have something prepared, but it seems that we will have to wait a little longer until we have some encouraging news.

Despite Ed Boon’s statements, we know that the studio is already developing this video game. We know this because the voice actor Johnny Cage was seen at Warner studios to record the voice of his character. Something the actor himself was posting and making jokes about.
For the moment we have to wait, if all goes as planned, the announcement of Mortal Kombat 12 would be made soon this year.
