KOEI TECMO reveals new details about combat and synthesis in Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Dreamed Land
Today, KOEI TECMO Europe and developer Gust released new gameplay details for the upcoming JRPG Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Dreamed Land.
There’s also new artwork from artist Benitama and a brand new trailer that takes a look at the upcoming adventure. Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Dreamed Land will be released on March 21, 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Windows PC via Steam and for the first time in the history of the series Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Dreamed Land follows the adventures of Yumia Liessfeldt and her companions as they set out to uncover the secrets behind the alchemy taboo and the cataclysm in which the continent of Aladiss was destroyed. But mysterious characters obsessed with alchemy stand in Yumia’s way.
To prepare for the adventure ahead, players will rediscover the familiar synthesis system in a new form.
By manipulating “Mana,” new items are created to aid in combat or exploration. To create more powerful items, the art of “resonance synthesis” is used. Ingredients that resonate with each other will add to the “alchemy core” of the recipe. How strong the response is depends on the quality of the ingredients selected.
The combat system has also been changed Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories and the Dreamed Land redesigned to offer intense real-time combat with intuitive gameplay.
The abilities available to active team members depend on their distance from the enemy (melee or ranged). Compared to its predecessors, players can now switch characters at any time during combat.
If certain conditions are met, a powerful “Friend’s Action” combo can be triggered in battle.
When certain conditions are met, players can activate the Mana Surge, which can be used to perform exclusive actions. Additionally, each character has a unique special move called Maximized Mana Surge, which deals significant damage to opponents.
Alongside Yumia and her friends, players explore the vast open world of the continent of Aladiss and can build their own bases along the way.
Thanks to the new “Build” feature, fans can freely design and decorate their studio from a huge selection of walls, floors, roofs, furniture and more, or select a predefined base model from the catalog.
By increasing the “Comfort Level,” players unlock bonuses such as the ability to expand the base and improve the abilities of Yumia and her companions.
If players do not wish to return to their base while exploring, they can set up a camp where they can rest or cook, which provides various bonuses for combat or exploration. Character events that can only be seen in the camps also sometimes occur, giving a deeper insight into the story of Yumia and her companions.
In addition to the Standard Edition, players can pre-order two special physical editions: the PREMIUM BOX, which includes the main game, an art book, a B3-sized fabric poster with original illustration, a CD with additional tracks and the exclusive Early Access costume “Alchemist on her day off” for Yumia.
