Developer studio Volition joins Gearbox Entertainment after poor response to Saints Row reboot
The Embracer Group has released a statement in which the company announced that it wants to make the developer studio Volition part of Gearbox Entertainment. Volition is currently part of Plaion (formerly Koch Media).
The reason for this measure is the poor acceptance of the Saints Row reboot, as Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors explains. The game also partially polarized the fan base.
Financially, Saints Row performed in line with management’s expectations in the last quarter.
“Going forward, Volition will become part of Gearbox, which has all the tools, including an experienced management team in the US, to ensure Volition’s future success.”
“This is the first intra-group transfer where we’ve transferred a large studio between operational groups, but it won’t necessarily be the last.”
Just yesterday the big Bright Future update for the game was released, in which many improvements were made to the game.
