According to Creative Director Jon Rush, the development of Fallout 5 will not be slowed down by Fallout 76.
Not least thanks to the great success of the Fallout TV series, many fans want a new spin-off of the post-apocalyptic action role-playing game series. Fallout 4, the last entry in the main series, dates back to 2015.
With Fallout 76, Bethesda has another successful Fallout game in its portfolio. The online spin-off was released in 2018 and is still being supplied with new content today.
Concerns that the success of Fallout 76, which starts its 18th season on September 3, could slow down the development of Fallout 5 or even have a negative impact on it, Creative Director Jon Rush told ThePlayer a clear rejection:
“Absolutely not. I can understand that perspective if you look at it from the outside, but no. Absolutely not. If anything, it will make Fallout 5 even more impressive when it comes out. But [Fallout 76] holds nothing back.”
