Alien: Isolation developer Creative Assembly is opening a third location in Newcastle, England.
The SEGA Europe-affiliated development studio Creative Assembly, known for games like Alien Isolation, the Total War series or the development of the upcoming multiplayer sci-fi shooter Hyenas, announces the opening of a third studio location.
In addition to its headquarters in Sussex, Great Britain and a studio in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, the company will have an additional branch in Newcastle, England, in the form of Creative Assembly North.
The newly formed studio, led by industry veteran Giselle Stewart (Reflections, TIGA, Ubisoft), will initially work alongside the Sussex-based team on an unannounced project aimed at providing gamers with an unforgettable experience.
A continuous improvement team will also be based in Newcastle, working with all three teams to continuously improve development tools, workflows and development experiences.
“It’s incredibly exciting to start a new development studio from scratch, with the full backing and knowledge of one of the UK’s oldest and largest studios.”
“We focus on flexibility, rapid iteration and creation while encouraging cross-site collaboration. We are bringing new jobs to the north east of the country and building a studio that will reinforce Creative Assembly’s amazing culture and values.”
“We will also be expanding the reach of the studio’s award-winning outreach program, Legacy Project, to support the excellence in industry education in the region,” Stewart said in a statement.
According to SEGA Europe Chief Studio Officer Tim Heaton, the formation of Creative Assembly North marks another major step towards growth for Creative Assembly and SEGA Europe:
“Newcastle has a burgeoning reputation as a tech hub and it is a wonderful opportunity for the studio to expand its talent pool while supporting the growth of the sector in the region. Everyone at SEGA Europe is excited to see what new experiences Creative Assembly North will contribute.”
