The Hidden Through Time franchise returns with a new installment.
If you spent your childhood poring over the Where’s Wally books, then the Hidden Through Time video game franchise is for you. If you read that title and think, “Wait, didn’t we just get a game called Hidden Through Time 2?”, you’re right. Hidden Through Time 2: Myths and Magic was released in January. Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is not an expansion or DLC– is a brand new game, featuring more colorful hidden object hunts.
History
We assume that Development studio Rogueside didn’t choose to call it Hidden Through Time 3 because it doesn’t bring anything new.. It’s pretty much the same thing, albeit with a different setting. While the locations of Myths and magic They were based on Greek mythology, the Middle Ages and a magical vision of the 80s, Discovery takes us to the Victorian era, a mystery inspired by noir and space
Gameplay
Now, if you’ve played any game in the Hidden Through Time series before, you’ll know exactly what to expect here. Dozens of different scenes will be presented to us, spread across the different themes proposed by the game. Each of them contains a selection of objects that you need to find. Not all of them will be immediately obvious, as you may need to tap your pointer on a box to open it or a house to reveal its interior. In some scenarios, the weather conditions or times of day will also be different. For example, Moving from a stormy night to a summer day can reveal different objects.
If you are tired of finding hidden objects, You can try to create your own levels. As in Myths and Magic, you will find here a level editor that will allow you to design your own scenario from scratch, create your own hidden object puzzles for other players to challenge. You can also play other people’s creations, which means there are endless levels to play. For a game that costs just over ten dollars, that’s something to be positively valued. Also note that the game is entirely in Spanish.
Chart
But this is not a simple game of seek and find. Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is bursting with personality thanks to a gorgeous cartoon art style and it’s a pleasure to contemplate each of its scenarios. You’ll find little hand-drawn characters, animals you can interact with and much more. Each scene tells a dozen different stories if you look for them, and it’s wonderful to discover them.
Conclusions
Is there anything negative to say about Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery? Almost nothing. It doesn’t do anything different from its predecessor, but delivers exactly what you’d expect from the Hidden Through Time series.. More hidden objects, hidden in beautifully drawn locations. As always, some hidden objects in larger environments can be tricky to locate, and there is no built-in hint function. However, each object you find will give you a helpful text prompt that tells you where it is. And I like that you don’t have to find every object in an environment to progress. If you get stuck on one or two, that’s okay, as long as you’ve found enough in each theme.
Hidden Through Time 2: Discovery is as entertaining as previous games in the series. It doesn’t offer anything new, but it doesn’t need to: these are more beautifully designed locations offering fun hidden object puzzles that you can complete at your leisure. With the addition of a level editor, you can also show off your creativity and enjoy almost endless entertainment.
