Whenever we are fortunate enough to receive games that are not only entertaining or artistically beautiful, but also stories capable of making us laugh or cry like the best movies in cinema. If there is a specialized study in this area, it is Dontnod Entertainment, responsible for titles like Life is Strange or the most recent Twin Mirror.
The French studio is very popular after its latest video games, which makes sense given that these are totally unique adventures worth enjoying at least once. This success does not seem to have gone unnoticed by anyone, as Dontnod has received several offers to purchase.
Dontnod Entertainment prefers to remain an independent studio
Company CEO Oskar Guilbert commented IGN that several entities made offers to take over the study, but all were rejected because they consider that remaining independent is the key to continuing to preserve the identity of the study:
To be fair, we rejected several proposals. Many are interested in the video game industry and see it as the new El Dorado of investments. We increased by 40 million dollars last January. But for us it was very important that the shareholders continue to have the majority and can keep the company working independently. This is something very important to us.
The values, the type of games that we make, it is very important for us to keep this corporate identity for the future. I don’t mean to be pretentious, but we have one of the companies that make these kinds of games (like Life is Strange, like Tell Me Why, and like Vampyr). We want to keep doing it. And we are very lucky because our partners, our employees, those who invest in the company continue to let us do what we want.
