Update 1 is live for DOOM + DOOM II and brings with it some new improvements and bug fixes.
Bethesda and id Software have released an update for DOOM + DOOM II that brings numerous improvements. If you want to relive the classic first-person shooter hell, you can play both games on Xbox Game Pass.

DOOM + DOOM II patch notes
Generally
- Added 21:9 resolution graphics for DOOM, DOOM II, The Plutonia Experiment and TNT: Evilution
- Left turn, right turn, and strafing keys have been added to the keyboard layouts, allowing for play with old-school keyboard-only tank controls
- Added 3D Sound option in the Sound menu, allowing the use of more than two speaker setups – allowing individual sound effect levels to be taken into account compared to the original DOOM sound system
- Cheats can now be activated via the pause menu. Entering the original game’s cheat codes will unlock them for future use. You can also unlock all cheats from the “Gameplay Settings” menu
Multiplayer
- The multiplayer match browser can now be filtered and sorted
- Added timer and frag limit to multiplayer scoreboard
Mods
- Players can now search for mods by name in the mod browser
- Mod release notes are now visible in the mod details screen
- Checking for mod updates can now be done manually via the Play menu
- Added a link to the mod details page in the Play menu to provide quicker access to unsubscribe, like, and report
- The current page and last selection are retained when you exit a mod’s details screen

- Added a menu option to bring up the folder where you can place new WAD files

- If a saved game is incompatible due to a map update, restart the level now, with the inventory you had at the time of saving
- Globally reduce input latency by at least one frame at 60 Hz
- Fixed various audio issues, including issues with sound loop playback, positioning, and simultaneous voice limitations
- Loading save games no longer causes enemies to attack other map objects
- Loading saves correctly restores enemy infighting and tracking of Arch-Vile and Revenant targets
- The correct DOOMguy expression is now displayed on the HUD when damaging more than 120 HP
- Progression towards the “Until It Is Done” achievement can now be made when playing DOOM & SIGIL
- All difficulty modifiers are correctly restored when loading a saved game
- The weapon will descend properly if it dies when vision is deflected
Episode specific
- Fixed soft locks in MAP03 in Legacy of Rust and TNT: Evilution MAP06 (on the lift at the beginning of the map)
- Fixed an issue that caused some enemies to get stuck in TNT: Evilution MAP31
Multiplayer
- Fixed an issue where not all platforms could see each other in the Match Browser
- Fixed an issue where wall textures would sometimes not scroll correctly in multiplayer clients
Mods
- The game will no longer force quit when attempting to load incompatible mods, instead sending you back to the menu
- Fixed an issue where saves created by certain mods could not be loaded
- Extended Boom feature compatibility to support a wider range of mods. If your Boom or MBF21 mods were having issues before this update, please try again and thanks everyone for all the reports so far!
- Automap renders correctly for large maps in mods
