In Dragon Age: The Veilguard you can listen to the characters a lot, 140,000 lines to be exact.
It’s been a decade since the series was last updated until Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which is set to be revealed this summer. Now, members of the long-awaited action RPG are opening up about why it’s been so long.
In a Interview with GamesRadar Creative Director John Epler said that BioWare wanted to “do it right.” The action role-playing game should be the “best version possible.”
These words are due to the fact that Dragon Age: The Veilguard is simply huge. According to Epler, the voice actors alone worked on it for five years.
Creative Performance Director Ashley Barlow said that overall a whopping 140,000 lines were recorded, of which 60,000 are for the protagonist “Rook”. A total of 700 characters were recorded.
“It just takes time to get good,” says Barlow.
For comparison: Dragon Age: Iquisition had 80,000 lines of dialogue. Mass Effect Andromeda had “only” 65,000 lines, which was still more than Mass Effect 2 and 3 combined.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is expected to be released this fall for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
The game will also be verified for the Steam Deck. The exact release date will, as already mentioned, be revealed in the summer.
