A dangerous journey through an alternative America awaits you in Dustborn.
Spotlight by Quantic Dream and Oslo studio Red Thread Games are pleased to announce that Dustborn will be released on August 20, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
The release date was announced during the Future Games Show Spring Edition, as we previously reported. Additionally, never-before-seen gameplay footage was shown in a new trailer.
But that’s not all, because another video with a gameplay overview offers more information about Dustborn:
This single-player action-adventure invites players to embark on a mysterious road trip to transport an important package from Pacifica to Nova Scotia.
Pax and her crew travel undercover as a punk rock band, exploring the breathtaking neo-Western landscapes of an alternative America. Along the way, they make pit stops to recruit crew members, build relationships, complete unforeseen tasks, and combat their pursuers.
“Dustborn builds on our experience developing single-player narrative projects like Draugen or The Dreamfall Chapters and gave us the opportunity to explore the action/adventure genre,” explains Creative Director Ragnar Tørnquist.
“It’s primarily a character-driven game about people and the power of words. Dustborn is about understanding your crew and their relationships and how your words shape the world around you. We can’t wait for the players to embark on this crazy road trip.”
Dustborn explores the power of words through the eyes of playable character Pax, a so-called Anomalous with the ability to use language as a weapon.
By creating new words, Pax can talk her way out of sticky situations, using her vocal power to neutralize threats and influence those around her, including her crew.
Assembling, managing and building relationships with this group of misfits – each with a compelling story and contrasting personalities – will prove to be a complex task that will require Pax to use her skills carefully.
This colorful and dangerous journey into a dystopian America will take players into unexpected situations as diverse as the landscapes they will discover.
The road trip is packed with challenges such as investigations and puzzles that require the crew’s special powers, action-packed battles with armed words or live musical performances by The Dustborns, the crew’s rock band.
Players throw Molotov cocktails from a motorcycle, swing a baseball bat to take out helicopters, and more. Just a normal road trip.
Dustborn will be released digitally on August 20, 2024 for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S/X and Xbox One at the recommended price of $29.99. A physical edition will be released at the same time with a recommended retail price of $39.99. This special edition will contain:
- Two postcards from important locations visited by the crew;
- A map of the American Republic, showing all the stops the crew must make before arriving at their final destination;
- A 32-page comic about the crew’s life before embarking on this risky mission;
- Stickers featuring iconic elements from the game
