This month marks the second anniversary of the launch of Dying Light 2 Stay human. Because this is a huge milestone, we’re celebrating all month long. The Year of the Dragon activity kicked off, but that was just the beginning. Now we’re ready to bring out the big guns in more ways than one with our first major update of 2024, the Firearms Update. We’re sure fans will like this because it brings with it something they’ve been asking for for some time: weapons!
But before we go into detail about what to expect from the new update, we have big news: we’re making the Bloody Ties DLC free for everyone who already owns the game! To get it, go to the Xbox Store and claim it. But newcomers don’t miss out either: we’re bringing a new version of the game onto the market, Reloaded Edition, which also grants new players full access to the DLC after claiming it! Now let’s get to the update!
Firearms Update: Fully Loaded
As the name suggests, the biggest part – and arguably the most important for our players – of the update is the addition of firearms. Until now, Villedor was a gun-free zone, where the closest you could get to a weapon was a boomstick or an auto-firing crossbow, but neither had the power of a real one. Now players can get their hands on four different types of firearms: pistols, shotguns, rifles and submachine guns. And players won’t have to wait long to get their hands on it, as all pilgrims who have completed the prologue will find the “Harran Pistol” in their supply by March 7th.
But the update includes much more than just firearms. We’re also introducing Survival Missions, offering players a new kind of challenge. Although these missions are playable solo, they are intended for co-op mode as they will test all of your skills, especially those of the elite missions. The first set of Survivor missions has been removed with the update, with more being added on February 29th and March 7th.
There are some new posts on the Villedor bulletin boards about missions. Take them on to help the citizens and be rewarded! And of course, there are more in-game items for players to earn, this time with 50 more Legend Tiers and a brand new reward: the Doppelganger Legend Outfit.
Additionally, the airwaves announce that a few familiar faces from the original series “Dying Light” are making their way to “The City.” Tolga and Fatin will arrive on February 29th and from what we hear they will need your help. We suspect that it will continue to be cool to be fashionably late.
Outside of the game, players can find additional bounties specifically designed for Community Maps at Pilgrim Outpost. Additionally, some of our best developers have already been hard at work on a collection of new maps that make the most of the newly added firearms.
Keep the celebrations going
As mentioned, this month marks our 2nd anniversary and there’s even more reason to celebrate with Anniversary Rewards. Over the next few weeks, players will need to complete three sets of four missions each (a new set will be unlocked each week) to get some awesome retro items from the original Dying Light and the 2019 E3 trailer: the Scorpion, the nocturnal tribal machete and the Acolyte outfit.
There’s no need to panic, though, because if you can’t start right away, you can complete Week 1 bounties in Week 2 or 3 (and Week 2 bounties in Week 3), giving you plenty of time to do so grab your rewards! Additionally, the majority of the bounties are focused on the update’s new additions, so you can experience them to the fullest! These special bounties are activated Pilgrim Outpostwhere you can also find out more about the entire activity.
