I’ve always been more into Battlefield than Call of Duty. The DICE game has always been able to win me over with every installment. Until we got to Battlefield 4 and everything was going to show**. I was loss of interest in each new interaction with the franchise; And it’s not because I haven’t tried. But instalment after instalment, things always got worse, and the playerbase of 2042 sort of proves me right.
It’s Electronic Arts itself that thinks like a server. They are aware that this Battlefield 2042 was the turning point to wipe the slate clean of IP and once again offer something players will fall in love with. Maybe, hopefully, we can get back to some of the quality of Bad Company 2. I’d even be up for a remake of the Bad Company offshoot.
Battlefield Could Pick Up Call of Duty’s Witness
The fact is that at Electronic Arts, they are not oblivious to the opportunities that the fact that Microsoft made Call of Duty an exclusive IP
Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, said at a recent Goldman Sachs event that he sees opportunities if this materializes. Of course, as I said, for this there are a few years left. These were his words.
In a world where there may be questions about the future of Call of Duty and what platforms it might or might not be on, being platform independent and completely cross-platform with Battlefield, I think this is a tremendous opportunity.
We know that new studio Ridgeline Games is focused on creating an entirely new campaign experience for the Battlefield universe, while DICE is focused on multiplayer. It’s time to wait and see if it’s worth it.
In the meantime, leave us your comments. What do you think of these statements? Could Battlefield see Call of Duty as the biggest cross-platform shooter in the event of a possible exclusive?
