The moment that many of us have marked in red is coming. On June 11, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. (Peninsula Time) two hours will begin where the gaming community will watch the Xbox Games Showcase, the new event where Microsoft will show its news. An event which presents itself, once again, as the ideal opportunity for the people of Redmond to sit down to eat.
Yes, year after year we tell ourselves that it must be the one that Microsoft pulls out all the artillery. And 2023 can be no exception, especially after a few launches that didn’t go so well (Redfall) and broken promises (Starfield and Forza Motorsport in the first half of 2023). For all that, and as is tradition in this house, we bring you our predictions for what we hope to see in the Xbox games showcase.
We play it safe: Starfield and Forza Motorsport
Ok, you know I really like to play with fire and with crazy predictions, but you have to start on the right foot and with what you know will be yes or yes. It’s not that you have to eat your head a lot, really, but it’s also that Microsoft has already confirmed its presence. Forza Motorsport will appear at some point on the show and hopefully it will be with new gameplay and most importantly its release date. It seems complicated to me that this is a shadowdrop due to the scale of the franchise, but Phil Spencer and his team have surprised us on more than one occasion. Anyway, I expect it between October and November, since September is reserved for Starfield.

About the new Bethesda IP we can say little. It will even be there with a short trailer to remind you that at the end of the Xbox Games Showcase the Starfield Direct will take place, a half-hour presentation dedicated exclusively to the game. I hope to see everything there. regarding the game. And when I say everything is everything. Special controller (already leaked), special editions of the game, any merchandising they have planned, and most importantly, lots of gameplay. Last year has already left us with our mouths open, but I want to see in depth all that the new game Bethesda will offer us.
The fable will be, but not as expected
We’ve heard a lot about Fable over the past few days from a few tweets from the company and its superiors. In particular, the one that caused the most noise was the tweet from the official Xbox account reminding us of the event and its date, where we could see a glittering path and music very inspired by the game. However, and unlike what is said, in my opinion, we will not see the new Playground Fable, but what will be presented will be a Fable Collection, similar to the Master Chief Collection. In other words, a compilation of the first three games, adapted and improved for Xbox Series X | S which serves to whet your appetite for the new game.
It would be a good move by Microsoft to warm up the road, bringing in new fans of the game who grew up not trying them out. Also, it’s been thirteen years since the last release, so it wouldn’t be strange to first move the IP with this compilation and in two years (or whenever) launch the new Playground game.

Hi-Fi Rush will surprise again
Tango’s last match was a surprise from all points of view. First, for your unexpected announcement. Second, because everyone who approached his proposal ended up loving it. And on June 11, it will surprise us again with the announcement of its first DLC. How am I so sure? Why ten new achievements for the game have appeared on Steam, locked and hidden. Undoubtedly, suspicious and therefore my bet and my safety.

Wolfenstein III, my eternal bet
I promise that this year I had proposed not to include Wolfenstein III in the predictions. I’ve been betting on it since 2020, before the Bethesda purchase even happened. My faith has never been broken, but you have to know when to stop. However, over the past few days, we’ve learned that MachineGames is looking for staff for a new AAA first-person shooter, and applicants need to have a strong knowledge of their franchises. Of course, my head can only think of Blazkowicz returning. I know it’s a utopia, but you have been warned.
Indiana Jones, a safe bet
Leaving aside my eternal personal bet, I see much more logic for MachineGames to appear in the series with a new trailer for Indiana Jones. A project that since it was announced we have not heard of it. But in June, our favorite archaeologist’s new movie comes out, so it would make a lot of sense to give some news about his next game. It’s a remote option, but quite achievable given the situation.

Hellblade II and Avowed must be the highlight
Hellblade II must be present at the event and be the keystone. It must surprise us, not only with its visuals and gameplay, but also with its release date, which I sincerely hope is between late 2023 and 2024. Ninja Theory game has been announced since 2019 and it was time it became fiefdom and sells the consoles the Xbox Series X|S needs.
With him, I expect a lot from Avowed. For starters, and at a minimum, I think it should show gameplay in this Xbox games showcase. It’s the perfect time after the great 2022 that Obsidian had with Grounded and Pentiment and what better way to celebrate it than with a new look at their next big game. Plus, I think they’ll be announcing their release date. launch for the first months of 2024, being the company’s big launch for these first bars of the year.

Xbox Game Pass Everywhere
Another almost certain point is that Xbox Game Pass will be one of the protagonists. Hopefully, as was the case last year, nearly all or nearly all of the games featured will release directly on Xbox Game Pass. It is something very necessary in the strategy of Xbox and its service, which must continue to demonstrate its powerful muscle and its vast catalog. Along with that, I expect more announcements from third-party companies landing day one on the service, as happened last year with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
We are coming to the end. I know I left out a lot of games, but I don’t think we’ll see anything from Everwild or The Outer Worlds 2. About State Of Decay III, I keep a little hope to see something, just like the novelties of inXile or Jeux de Compulsion. Speaking of The Coalition, I’d like to see a Gears collection, but I think that quota is already covered by Fable, and I don’t think they’ll be showing anything yet on the sixth installment of the franchise. Perhaps a Gears Tactics-style spinoff could happen.
These are my predictions and hopes for the Xbox Game Showcase. They are nothing more than that, an idea that I have in mind and that I would like to see in the two hours that Xbox will give us. And you, what would you like Microsoft to present?
