favorite Food: Any dish with meat
“Leene always told me that my habit of sticking my nose in other people’s problems was something of a terminal illness. I will help you. I’m not sure I can really do it, but I know I can’t just sit here and do nothing.”
When the League of Nations recruits warriors to help in a joint expedition with the Galdean Empire, our protagonist heeds the call and leaves his remote village to test his skills. On the mission, he finds an ancient rune lens, unaware that the discovery will spark a war between the League and the Empire. After the conflict begins, he joins a unit of the League Border Patrol.
The protagonist is the “jump before you look” type. He doesn’t always weigh the pros and cons before taking action, and although his constant need to meddle in other people’s problems sometimes gives his companions a headache, they like him for it and know his heart is in the right place is. After all, if they ever got into trouble, he’d be the first to get there.
Mister
Masculine: 18 years old

“Dreams and desires alone will not change this world. The reality is not like that. You have my word; I will not hesitate to put aside my ideals temporarily when it is necessary to realize them.”
The second-born son of the House of Kesling, a powerful imperial family. His older brother died on the battlefield. Seign is exceptionally gifted; After getting excellent grades at the military academy, he was appointed commander of a company of his kind and sent on an expedition to find the ancient rune lens. During the mission he meets the protagonist. The two grow warm as they overcome adversity, and they learn of each other’s ambitions.
Seign’s strategic mind allows him to analyze things from a broad perspective and make informed decisions. People often mistake his clear mind for a cold heart, but he is guided by strong ideals and a deep passion to fulfill them. After his brother’s death during a border rebellion, Seign began to think long and hard about what it means to fight.
Marisa
Feminine: 16 years old
profession: One of the Guardians who watches over the forest
favorite Food: Chicken with herbs
“Just leave the forest to me. I know where the water comes from, where the rabbits dig, and most importantly, where your enemies will try to hide.”
A young member of the Guardians, a clan that sanctifies and protects the forest. Ever since Marisa was very little, her family has taught her their ways and traditions. She has a warm, friendly smile—except on the battlefield, where she wears the visage of a warrior.
Although the Wardens live at one with the forest, they respect the culture and technology of the outside world and don’t mind incorporating those parts of it that make sense to them. Marisa is particularly forward-thinking in this regard and loves new things – especially cute things.
Over the generations, the Wardens have developed a unique method of using the Rune Lenses. Because of this, both the Empire and the protagonist try to win her over to their camp. Who the Wardens choose will prove to be a major turning point in the story.

favorite Food: Super hot ramen
“Uhh, well, I’m not sure of the details, but basically a weird group of people just showed up in my home country and started walking around like they owned the place…I want to get that cocky grin off their face right now.” to wipe!”
After Empire forces invade League lands, Lian is furious and runs away from home without even the slightest semblance of a plan. She decides to scurry off to the biggest city she can find first, and luckily that’s where she meets the protagonist and his companions.
Lian was born in a dojo and her father wasted no time teaching her. She was doing roundhouse kicks before she even learned to walk properly.
Garr
Masculine: 32 years old
profession: Warrior in a mercenary clan
favorite Food: Pancakes topped with whipped cream
“Only an idiot would allow his leader to be the first to face danger. A warrior out for profit would laugh at the thought. But if you want to do the wrong thing, we will. Life is short enough as it is. Can’t spend every day worrying about if this is all going to pay off.
A skilled Beastman warrior. He and his clan make a living as mercenaries, and their vast experience and sheer brutality make them in great demand. War is all Garr knows and for him life is one battlefield after another until you die.
When conflict breaks out, every army will want as many Beastmen as it can afford. Since mercenary contracts are made with individuals rather than the entire clan, it is not uncommon for Garr and his beastmen to find themselves in the field as enemies.
