Embark on a healthy arcade adventure in Button City, now available for Xbox Series X | S

We’re Subliminal, a small indie studio that does City button: a narrative adventure game about a fox and his friends teaming up to save their local arcade from being shut down by a greedy (and literally) fat cat. It’s the ultimate summer vacation adventure! It’s available for Xbox Series X | S starting today, and we’re excited to share it with you!

story

Step into a colorful, pocket-sized world inspired by childhood nostalgia in the ’90s and early’ 00s – seen through pastel pink tinted glasses. Play as Fennel, a shy little fox, and the new kid on the town as he gets carried away on a stormy adventure with the local kids. Follow a story about friendship, growing up, and saving the things that matter most to you, while connecting with charming, fun, relatable characters in the process.

City button can take place in a cute little diorama world, but don’t be fooled – it’s full of features and fun! There’s a lot more to it than just the story and cute art. The main story is peppered with all sorts of features, including arcade games, mini-games, puzzles, side quests, item collecting, wearables, and more.

Arcade games

There are 3 main arcade games in City button: Gobabots, rEVolution Racer, and Prism Beats. These are fully playable in-game games – play alone, challenge NPCs, and earn tickets that can be exchanged for prizes at the price booth:

• Gobabots: A 4v4 mini MOBA with collectable fruit robots in space and in the middle of a Pokémania-type pop culture moment. All the kids are crazy about it – they play the game, watch the cartoon, read the comics, draw fanart, do cosplay and drink the officially branded Gobabots soda. Players unlock new playable characters for this game by collecting Gobapods, small plastic capsules with toys in them that are put into the Gobabots Arcade machine. Each gobabot has its own unique weapons and attacks, so collect them all, assemble your perfect team, and become an arcade champion!

• rEVolution Racer: A classic arcade racing game where players slide through backwoods streets in electric cars. This game is based on a manga from the universe starring Evie, a tough bunny girl who works on her own junky electric car, the EV Sprinter, that was built by her grandmother. Challenge other kids in the arcade, beat their times and make your way to the top of the leaderboard!

• Prism Beats: ON Dance dance revolution-Style rhythm game with a full spectrum of funky rainbow graphics and multiple super groovy tracks. Each song has 2 difficulty modes and you can unlock new songs to play by purchasing soundtracks from the local record store. Collect all the songs and show your moves!

Fluff buffs

We really wanted every part of the game to have meaning, so there aren’t any useless items in City button. Every item in the game has an effect, be it a key item, a wearable outfit, a decoration for your room or a fluff buff.

What is a fluff buff? All 3 arcade games can be “modified” in the game with items that you buy in shops or earn by completing side quests. These effects are called Fluff Buffs and include new difficulty levels, challenge modes, alternate game modes, and cosmetics (big head mode, anyone?). Collect all items to unlock all mods!

We don’t want to reveal everything, but there are a lot more fun surprises and content waiting for you in City button! We hope the game has something special for everyone. While it’s family friendly and suitable for kids, we think adults who are into media like cartoons and healthy games will love it too!
