Blumhouse Productions has found a new director for The Five Nights at Freddy’s film in Emma Tammi. Jim Henson’s Creature Shop was won for the animatronics.
Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the rights for a film adaptation of the game in 2015 and a film was to be made with Gil Kenan (Monster House). In 2017, however, series creator Scott Cawthon announced that the project had been reset.
In the same year it became public that the horror film production company Blumhouse had taken over the rights. In 2018 it was announced that Chris Columbus would direct, in 2021 Jason Blum, founder of Blumhouse Pictures, informed that Columbus was no longer involved in the project. This week chirped He then updated: “Alongside Emma Tammi, who directed The Wind and Blood Moon, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop will be making the animatronics. The company has already started work, and filming is scheduled to start in 2023.”
