As a UK developer, the choice of the UK mainland route that we should tackle next was obvious when the pandemic restricted travel. We had a lot of requests for a route in Cornwall, the most south-westerly region of the UK, and we could see why – there are beautiful landscapes, lovely beaches and beautiful towns.
The Great Western Railway was originally built in the 1830s, known as the Holiday Line, which took Victorian vacationers back and forth to some of the most popular vacation spots of the time. The railway has of course been modernized in the meantime and is still a very popular route today.
For the West Cornwall Local-Route we are bringing a new train to Train Sim World 2, the Class 150/2, which is in the livery of the regional train. It is a 121 km / h diesel multiple unit that is still in service in various parts of the UK.
Also included is a class 37 diesel locomotive, which we have updated to the version that runs the most on the line. And the route also includes two wagons; the turbot and the manatee, meaning there is a wide range of game options to choose from, whether you want to move passengers along slower scenic parts of the route or speed cargo on the main sections of the route. We also installed a controllable train washing system and a gas station in the Long Rock Depot in Penzance to create even more variety.
In addition to the 5 scenarios and 67 services, we had a lot of fun hiding collectibles such as tourist posters and luggage carts along the entire route – it’s up to you to find them all! And as if that wasn’t challenging enough, those who deserve the championship reward might also encounter an octopus, the legendary sea monster!
With its beautiful beaches, rolling countryside and bustling cities, a wide variety of gaming options including the additional branch to St. Ives, West Cornwall Local for Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S, there is something for everyone. You can take it with you Train Sim World 2 with Xbox Game Pass and this new route to explore is now available.

Experience the rolling hills and picturesque scenery of the Great Western on board a classic British diesel traction with Rivet Games’ West Cornwall Local: Penzance – St Austell & St Ives. Opened in 1867, the Cornish Main Line meanders through the landscape that connects Cornwall with the rest of the country. Brunel originally built the line on his unique 7ft “broad gauge”, but in 1892 the line was converted to standard gauge. In areas not reached by the main line, branches spread to serve local communities such as the St. Ives Bay Line. It is your job to take over the various services on this scenic route; transport passengers through the Cornish Countryside with local services and shuttles back and forth along the St. Ives junction on the BR Class 150/2 regional train.
