Enlisted is a massive multiplayer war game in which we control different combat teams in a most realistic setting

Today we have to talk about a war game of Russian origin that offers many new features in its game mechanics and high fidelity and realism in fun gameplay. Enlisted was developed by the Russian studio Darkflow software and published by the Russian publisher Gaijin Entertainment. The game is in beta and is included in the program Game preview of Xbox at discounted price.

Enlisted is located in the Second World War and you can choose between two factions to play its multiplayer mode, Germany and the Soviet Union. From the game menu we can choose our side and select the different squads that we will use in the game, select the upgrades that we can apply to our squads once they gain experience and a logistics section where to recruit soldiers and get new weapons to equip them.

Platoons of soldiers

If I had to highlight the most exceptional part of Enlisted, it would be its particular gameplay concept.. Unlike all war games where we always control a single soldier, here we will control a whole squad, normally composed of four soldiers. The in-game AI will be responsible for controlling the rest of the unit and will follow the orders of the character we control.

We can change characters at any time during the game, this can be useful as not all characters on the team will always be equipped with the same weapons. If the character we are controlling dies, we will select another soldier from our platoon if he is still alive. In some cases, we can revive our colleagues as long as they have not suffered serious injuries.

In every battle of Enlisted 4 platoons will participate and when one of them dies completely, we reappear with another. We can select different types of squads: assault infantry with automatic weapons, reconnaissance soldiers with sniper rifles or one battalion of tanks or planes. In addition, we can customize each squad thanks to the soldiers and equipment that we unlock in the game.

How a multiplayer game plays out in Enlisted

At first, it is somewhat strange to see yourself surrounded by three soldiers who follow in the footsteps of the character we control. The AI feels pretty good as the soldiers will be strategically positioned around us every time we occupy a position. Due to the different types of squads available to us, we will need to approach each moment in a different way.

Multiplayer games in Enlisted these are generally the means of conquering bases or defending territories. Then, it will be up to our platoon to make an offensive charge or to support our companions with our rifles from afar. Up to 10 players participate in each game, so we will always see a large number of soldiers in the skirmishes that take place on the battlefield.

AI’s weakest point may be its offensive ability. There were many times when I was able to kill 10 soldiers in a flash when my position on the battlefield was good. The weapons are quite lethal and we can rarely withstand more than two hits. The presence of vehicles can be devastating and lead us to make long series of losses without too much difficulty. Strategy is an essential element to be able to be victorious in every game.

In short, play Enlisted it means move between the trenches, defend positions and launch offensives when the situation calls for it. It’s a shooter massive and tactical at the same time and I think it offers a gameplay very cool and fun that stands out from its direct competition.

Customization and progression of our battalions

As I said before, each platoon works independently. Each time we go to the battlefield, we will gain experience for each team separately. Squads will level up and we will be able to unlock group, individual or equipment upgrades.

On the other hand, we have another general progress bar in which the overall points of each game will be added. As we progress we will unlock new squads for our battalion. You also get a reserve and soldier card between each level, these are used to unlock new soldiers and weapons by customizing our squads.

We can customize each squad by replacing soldiers or modifying their equipment. At first, this is the least clear part of the game, since almost all of these possibilities are blocked. But as we make these improvements, we will see that it is very useful to strengthen each platoon to get the most out of its in-game deployment.

Latest conclusions

In general, I have a very positive opinion on Enlisted. At the graphic level, it is a game that meets each other, even if it is not the most advanced in terms of modeling structure and landscape. But it has very realistic lighting thanks to Ray Tracing and that makes it look great on screen.

As for the AI controlling the peloton, I have mixed opinions. I think the proposal is a lot of fun and original, but this might be the part you need to work on the most. Considering that the game is in beta, I have no doubt that this is the part where we will see the most improvement.

The system of progression of the different platoons is very successful for me, it gives a lot of variety in the way of approaching each moment of the match. This is the part I enjoyed the most, picking the right time to go out with the tank to take a lot of casualties or leave the assault squad ready for the moment to lead an attack offensive.

Anyway, if you like multiplayer shooter games, I think you should give Enlisted. Its price reduced to $ 29.99 I think that makes it very attractive and it will surely give you great moments of pleasure, no doubt it is a different proposition. We will continue to report on the progress of Darkflow software with its new title and I leave you here the link so that you visit its official page.
