“The original Samurai Warriors was released 17 years ago, and it’s amazing to see the series go from its roots to the incredible Samurai Warriors 5,” said Producer, President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of KOEI TECMO Games, Hisashi Koinuma, who led the development of the franchise from day one. “I hope our fans are ready for a whole new Samurai Warriors experience!”
Samurai Warriors 5 is set after the end of the Ōnin War, during the Sengoku period, and tells the story of two of the most outstanding military commanders of the period – Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi. This title spans different eras from this period, including Nobunaga’s younger years when he was known as “Owari’s Great Fool” and the time of the turmoil and upheaval that led to the Honnō-ji incident.
All character designs in the game have been completely redesigned and redesigned to fit thematically into the Sengoku era. In total, the game offers 27 playable main characters and ten additional supporting characters, including both new and well-known warriors, for example Ieyasu Tokugawa and Hideyoshi Hashiba as well as Nō and Yoshimoto Imagawa.
New Musou attacks increase the thrill of breathtaking enemy soldiers from the battlefield. Fans of the series can look forward to Musou frenzy attacks and brand new ultimate abilities. These attacks are depicted in a new, vibrant Japanese ink painting style that elegantly evolves the Samurai Warriors series and blends in perfectly with the Sengoku period, while the intertwined history of Nobunaga and Mitsuhide appears on the screen like a scroll from that period unfolds.
After the release of Samurai Warriors 5, DLC will be released that can be purchased either individually or through the Season Pass. They contain new action-packed scenarios, additional mounts and weapon sets.
