Plus, take command of the hard-working LMS Stanier 8F class locomotive, with its rugged BR Late Black livery and 2-8-0 wheel configuration better suited for hauling slower, heavy freight trains.

To achieve an authentic recreation of the 58km Liverpool Lime Street to Crewe route from the 1950’s we have used countless references including the National Library of Scotland’s historical OS map collection, railway photo archives, old postcards and much more. In addition to historical locomotives, wagons and buildings, Spirit of Steam also features a recreation of the complex signaling system and historically accurate LNWR interlockings built along the route.
Authentic audio
spirit of steam offers authentic and detailed audio from the real locomotives. Our team visited the Great Central Railway where they were able to practically capture audio that could be replicated in-game to bring the sensation of driving a steam locomotive to life.
