EA SPORTS F1 22 adds track updates to reflect real world track changes.
Codemasters and Electronic Arts announce for EA SPORTS F1 22 that the circuits for Europe, Australia and Abu Dhabi will be updated in-game to match their real-world counterparts.
All improvements are designed to encourage greater competition as part of the new era of Formula 1 with the introduction of new cars and rules for the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship.
In keeping with this weekend’s 2022 Spanish Grand Prix, here’s the hot lap featuring BTW Alpine’s Fernando Alonso:
The exact route updates look like this:
Europe: There is a new layout at Turn 10 to match the postponed 2021 race. Turns 10 through 14 have had their off-track areas revised and there are several on-track “sausage” kerbs.
Australia: The Albert Park circuit has been reshaped using lidar data and now has more detailed elevation and camber. In the outdoor areas, the walls have been repositioned and the curbs replaced with new photogrammetry versions. The circuit has been changed in several ways: Turns 1, 3, 6, 8/9 (instead of the chicane), 11, 12 and 13 have been redesigned.
Abu Dhabi: Turn 5 at Yas Marina, where Verstappen passed Hamilton to secure the 2021 Formula One World Championship, has been altered by removing the chicane before the hairpin. The hairpin is also moved further forward, resulting in more spout. The Turn 9 chicane and the 90-degree corner are now a single corner, replacing Turns 11-14. Finally, turns 13-15 were rounded around the hotel to allow the cars to follow better.
F1 22 will be released on July 1, 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via EA App, Origin, Steam and the Epic Store. Those who pre-order the purely digital F1 22 Champions Edition will receive three days of early access as well as further additional content.
