In the whirlwind of some Resident Evils remakes, some fans started their own project to update the Resident Evil Code: Veronica and it looked pretty spectacular. The use of the past tense is no coincidence since at present the project is canceledprobably due to legal pressure from Capcom.
The title has always been one of the “weird” in the Resident Evil franchise. The idea, in its conception, was that the game would be Resident Evil 3 continuing the events of Resident Evil 2, but for various contractual reasons that didn’t happen and instead we got Code: Veronica.

In terms of history, Code: Veronica is one of the most important in the series, it is the one that put Albert Wesker, the antagonist of the first game, back on the front of the stage and laid the foundations for this who was going to be Resident Evil 5 and the future of the IP, in general terms, not counting the fourth installment.
Capcom, for its part, has always largely ignored the game, even though it’s true that it received a remaster in HD and the game was re-released in 2011 for Xbox 360 and PS3. A group of fans, seeing the abandonment of their creators, decide to create their own remake taking others as a reference redone officials of the first Resident Evil, they even went so far as to release a demo, but unfortunately the adventure came to a halt due to the Capcom threat take legal action against the developers.
The only possible “good” news is that Capcom may have finally decided to remake it on its own and doesn’t want any unauthorized competition, although that’s mostly speculation at this point.
