It’s finally here: Trunks – The warrior of hope, the final DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, is now available for Xbox One! We spoke to lead producer Ryosuke Hara to discuss what players can expect from this latest drop.
AL: About how much gameplay content can we expect with this DLC?
RH: In terms of gameplay volume, you can expect roughly the same length / content as the other playable arcs in the main story (Saiyan Arc, Frieza Arc, etc.).
AL: Can you give us a little taste of the story this storyline covers?
Right: In this new DLC, users will experience a new arc based on the story of an additional chapter / episode of the manga / anime. This arc focuses on an alternate future in which Gohan and Trunks battle the androids to regain peace in a desperate world without Goku or any of the other Z-warriors.
The world is no longer what it used to be. As they travel through the devastated land, players will find ruins of iconic landmarks like Orange City and Capsule Corp. and other characters like Master Roshi who have been chased from their original homes.
I don’t want to spoil it for players who haven’t seen the anime, so I won’t go into the story much further, but I assure you that this will be a story you won’t forget.
AL: Are there any new villains we should be on the lookout for?
RH: Nowhere is safe, as countless Red Ribbon Army drones are in search of survivors. Getting spotted by these drones can be fatal as they will trigger an alert and automatically throw you into a deathmatch against Android 17 and 18. The androids are much stronger than the ones you fought in the main story. and your only chance of survival is to find an escape route by clearing certain conditions in combat.
AL: Many players are fans of the anime and already know the story. Can anime viewers expect something new?
Right: We’ll have surprises and new discoveries for everyone who’s already seen the show, so I really hope you all enjoy it. New skills will also be unlocked in the main story once you complete this DLC. So this is your chance to repeat the main game or exit if you haven’t already.
AL: If I haven’t finished the main story, can I still play this DLC?
RH: The DLC is playable whether or not you’ve completed the main story, so don’t be afraid to jump right in!
