If you want to see what your personality and perception of life might be, Finis tries to carry out a detailed analysis
There is a test to assess the psychophysiological state designed by Max Luscher which was governed by the colors we selected. If our tendency was towards yellow tones, it meant that we felt joy. If, on the other hand, we preferred blue tones, it conveyed calm and contemplation. It’s not that it was a very reliable test, but it has since been extrapolated to a multitude of books, films and even video games. We associate colors with a state, and this is what it will do Finished with our personality with a series of tests until a final evaluation. Are you ready to take the test?
Sit on the couch and tell me your favorite color
K148 Game Studio and Jandusoft They are responsible for providing this experience to our consoles. Thanks to a first person view, we will go travel through different biomes while solving puzzles that will determine our psychological stage.
The first tests of Finis are rather a study of our behavior in certain situations. Or at least that’s what I seemed to understand, since at a certain point in the test, that’s when the game will start to evaluate our ability to solve certain puzzles. Anyway, the truth is that we will have several rooms to visit, each one completely different from the others and with puzzles that play different costumes. From some where we will interact with objects on stage to others where we will have to find a logical sequence that allows us to open the door of the fridge teleportation capsule.
Mixed results
Even though the idea and general concept is good, the end result is not that good. In about 45 minutes, if you completed everything correctly, you will have completed the tests. and you will arrive at the description of your own personality. The problem is that, other than choosing the colors until the next multiverse, they do not explain to you what you did in this or that way to achieve this result of your psyche. You no longer know how deeply Finis assessed you to achieve this definition.
Visually, the game doesn’t stand out much. With the whole theme of the Lüscher test This would have been a good opportunity to praise the different tones depending on the chosen biome, but that doesn’t happen. The settings are poor in textures, and neither the physics of the objects themselves nor the interactions that we can achieve reach a good level. Neither do Finis’ menus, showing a fairly simple interface for that era.
Chromatic issues
At least replayable for a while. Once you have carried out the self-assessment of your own being, you can continue to discover new phases in search of the puzzles that you could not solve in the first round. In all, there will be 21 multiverses to visit where we will have to solve puzzles and challenges. They do not reach the level of complexity of After You, the studio’s previous works
Conclusion of Finis
K148 Game Studio and Jandusoft offer us a game that is more than a game, it’s an experience. Thanks to this experience we will be able to evaluate our psychophysiological state thanks to our choice of colors and our behavior in the face of challenges. It is not very reliable in its final assessment, but it is interesting to know our way of facing problems and the path according to the tones we have taken.
For me, the main problem is that the assessment itself is done in a somewhat abstract way, without knowing what parameters were taken into account to shape our personality, and it would have been great to be aware of our actions. If you are not a big fan of self-assessments, that’s okay, because once you finish the game you will be able to visit the different multiverses and solve the puzzles that we left unfinished. Ready to get to know yourself? Well, tell us your favorite color and we’ll get started.
