“The Prismatic subclass combines skills and powers that were previously isolated from each other, allowing players to generate very novel builds from this interplay,” explains Tsai. “The ability to combine the crowd control properties of Stasis with a destructive solar power, for example, can lead to entirely new approaches to combat.”
The team started with fantasy statements for the first Prismatic builds: “We talked about the different ways the player would act: ‘Slow them down, then blow them up’ or ‘Get pumped up and go crazy.’ While the individual abilities were familiar, these initial combinations pushed for different styles to create new strategies. But we know the community will find even more amazing combinations and tactics, especially when using the new aspects and fragments.”
Feeling great
Fate 2Existing subclasses are also getting exciting overhauls in the form of several new super abilities. Titans are armed with Twilight Arsenal, a powerful new Void super, Hunters are freshly equipped with Storm’s Edge, a deadly new Arc ability, and Warlocks are heating things up with Song of Flame.
Much like the setting of The Pale Heart, these Supers also contain elements of classic Destiny abilities. For example, Storm’s Edge is described as being similar to the Bladedancer ability for Hunters in the original. determination
“We wanted to deliver an experience that leaned into the classic Arc Hunter fantasy while still offering an aggressive, highly mobile playstyle,” says Samuel Dunn, Gameplay Feature Lead. “We knew we wanted to incorporate elements like the Arc Blade weapon itself, as well as the powerful Spin attack, but with the ability to get in and out of trouble in the blink of an eye. Combined with Ascension’s new aerial move, you can chain together powerful aerial move combos to keep your enemies on their toes.”
