Unknown 9: AwakeningThe tough heroine is fierce, quick-witted and has incredible skills. She is also portrayed by Anya Chalotra, who is best known for her acting The Witcher‘s Yennefer of Vengerberg.

As awakening Creative Director Christophe Rossignol explains: It was a privilege to work with the actress, whose passion for the game’s narrative and dedication to the role were invaluable in shaping Haroona’s character and developing the story.

But don’t just take it away from him! Only by walking Haroona’s path can you experience the magic that Chalotra infuses into the character.

Command every battle by invading your enemies

In the world of Unknown 9, stepping means projecting your consciousness into another person’s body to control them. It is an ability that allows you to puppeteer your enemies, exploiting their strengths while pitting them against each other.

In its simplest form, stepping can be used to take over an ascendant soldier and have him shoot a comrade. Earn enough step tokens in battle and hop from one enemy to the next, adjusting the position of each to launch catastrophic chain attacks.

Whether you use this skill as a form of crowd control or use it to reshape the battlefield and set the pace of a fight, it’s a skill that allows you to get incredibly creative.

Customize your playstyle with Haroona’s Umbric abilities

While stepping can be performed in an almost infinite number of ways, there is something to be said for utilizing Haroona’s entire Umbrian arsenal.

As Yoan Le Souder, Senior Game Designer at Reflector Entertainment, explains, Haroona uses the Umbric Energy (Am) of the Fold to wield a wide range of powers, deflecting attacks and weaponizing anything in her path to use. It’s up to you to choose the best approach and then choose which skills to use and when.

Go secretly

Fly under the radar by using your Shroud ability to become invisible and dismantle powerful Ascendant technology like the Anti-Stepping Device, which, as the name suggests, prevents you from performing this special ability.

You can also cast a wave of Umbrian energy to lure an ascendant to an isolated location, then sneak up behind them and perform a takedown.

Fight against it

Would you rather use brute force? Haroona’s smash, push, and pull abilities allow her to turn almost anything into a weapon. You can also use these abilities to clear a path, trap enemies, or send them flying off ledges and cliffs!

If you want to pull out all the stops, go for an Umbric or Burst attack. The former proves effective in stunning your enemies and the latter is the ideal way to finish them off.

A combined approach

There is no right or wrong way to approach a situation in the game. You can fight from the shadows, throw down in melee combat, or stick to stepping. But the real magic lies in the combination of the three styles.

Game designer Anna Karina Bermudez likes to start in secret to catch enemies off guard. From there, it’s as simple as throwing a few punches, perhaps knocking an enemy into a wall, pulling others in closer to land a few kicks, and then finishing them off with a step attack before moving them out of sight.

By playing the game, you make your first foray into a universe full of mystery and adventure. Although awakeningThe narrative is self-contained, one of many interconnected stories that take place in comics, novels, podcasts and web series.
