Before you head down the overgrown path into a world of adventure, we’ll give you some top tips to get you started on your adventures in the Yondering Lands Wildermyth: Console Edition.
Take time to strengthen the country for resources and improved defense
As you explore the lands, you will uncover many secrets, encounter story events, and venture into ancient ruins filled with malevolent monsters. While it may be tempting to search for treasure, don’t neglect the regions where suitable sites can be built.
After exploring a new region and defeating the enemies lurking there, your party can spend some time there “securing the site” and constructing a building at the end of each chapter that provides a variety of resources. Pay close attention to the icons that indicate what resources the site provides. There are ingots, heartwoods, hides, fabrics and magic threads.
In each region you have secured, you can also spend additional time strengthening the defenses. This gives you bonuses when defending these map pieces during raids – periods of time in the game when monsters set out to wreak havoc on all the locations you’ve invested time in.
Spend Legacy Points when crafting new equipment
So you’ve spent time securing sites and gathering resources, but now what? Now it’s time to craft equipment crucial to surviving more difficult combat situations.
At the end of the chapter or in settlements, you can use all the resources you gain to craft equipment for your party. Here’s a tip from adventurer to adventurer: you can use Legacy Points (acquired through events) to fill in the gaps if you’re missing a particular resource, giving you some freedom when upgrading your team’s gear sets.
However, that’s not the only way to get powerful items! When securing locations, you can spend a little more time searching the location and finding a piece of equipment once the region is secured. It’s random, so you can’t always rely on it being the gear you need, but it’s an easy way, especially in the early stages of the campaign, to get new loot and gear.
There are other ways to get items too! Watch out for little ghosts in battle, as hunting them and coming into contact with them will often give you the opportunity to upgrade your weapon.
Relationships aren’t just for show, they also provide benefits and bonuses
Your party members will develop relationships throughout their adventures, be it friendship, love, or rivalry. However, these relationships aren’t just for show, you can also exploit them in battle.
When a character is attacked by an enemy, their love deals additional damage to that same enemy (called Lover’s Revenge), allowing a pair of lovers to really focus on a particularly tough enemy.
Rivals, on the other hand, always try to outdo each other. When a character performs a stunt (this means they score a critical hit). Wilder myth), her rival will have the chance to do the same. Suddenly there is a flood of critical hits – great!
Leverage not only your party’s equipment and abilities, but also the relationships that form between them to succeed in combat.
Death rolls a little differently Wildermyth: Console Edition
Oh no! The worst has happened, your beloved warrior “Balthasar” has died in battle. In most cases, your hero will die, but not without dealing devastating damage to an enemy or giving a buff to the rest of the team.
Not all heroes are forgotten when they die. After a battle in which a character has fallen, you can use Legacy Points to build a tomb, similar to securing a site. Once the tomb is constructed, that character will be added to the Annals of Legends, allowing you to call upon that hero in future playthroughs and other campaigns. This is a great way to breathe new life into a character you love so much.
However, in some cases the character may escape the battle broken but not defeated. There’s always a cost, whether it’s a permanent deterioration in their stats or the loss of a limb… luckily there’s a way around it!
Make smart decisions – they come at a price
We’ve already mentioned that you’ll experience numerous story events throughout your adventures. The decisions you make in these events can have impressive results and even permanently change your characters. Always think carefully about the decision you are about to make and the impact it may have on your character and the rest of the group.
Showing contempt for a wandering crow woman results in a very different transformation than accepting the gifts she can offer. All of these transformations come with skills or stat increases, and combining them with the skills your characters learn is a really good way to maximize your combat skills and strategy.
Take Crow Wings for example – now your warrior can fly into the heat of battle while avoiding its slow movements or obstacles.
We hope that these tips will get you well on your way to adventure. Remember, Wilder myth is a story of daring gambits, valiant efforts and tragic sacrifices. Now it’s time to create your own story…where will your myth lead?
