The Show Goes On: Frogwares announce the existence of their next game – Project Palianytsia.
Frogwares has announced that they are working on a new title. The studio has put its entire remaining team on a new game, even though the war in Ukraine is still affecting their lives.
For now it says Project Palianytsia and is a blend of primeval horror mixed with Victorian-era mystery aimed at fans of Frogwares’ The Sinking City and Sherlock Holmes series.
Four first concept arts were released to give a first look at the project. The official reveal of the game will hopefully be seen sometime this summer.
“We’re revealing the game in this way now, just to show people that we’re moving on, and also as a clear middle finger to those who thought they could just come into our country and hope to disrupt our lives and ruin.”
“Everything we have released so far during the war was an existing project that had yet to be completed. Now we’re doing something almost completely new, which is a lot more difficult under the circumstances, so we had to think carefully about what’s realistic for us. The idea was approved for that very reason, as it’s something that our current team and setup can deliver versus pre-production on another open world title, which we did before the war.”
“The name Palianytsia is symbolic of Ukraine, as it is considered a part of our national cuisine. But it’s also the equivalent of Dark Souls for Russians, who often can’t pronounce it properly when trying to impersonate Ukrainians. And so now it is often used in action as a test to quickly identify the possible affiliation of unknown people,” Sergey Oganesyan, communications manager, Frogwares.
