We exclusively bring you impressions of the long-awaited action title coming to Xbox Game Pass.
We were able to test Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja’s latest project, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty in the 2022 Tokyo Gaming Fair with an exclusive demo. So we leave you with some impressions of what we thought of the title that will arrive in 2023 an Xbox Game Pass.
the demo of Wo Long at TGS 2022 lasted about 15 minutes, in which the player was thrown into a level that served to show how the game’s combat would play out. In this level, with some basic instructions on how to move and fight, our ultimate goal will be to defeat the mighty Zhang Liang of the Yellow Turban Army.
Besides the combat, the demo also allowed us to see the entire game character creatorwhich allows us to create an avatar practically from scratch. We also have the possibility to choose between five mythical beasts that accompany us and can be invoked to inflict damage on a certain element, protect us or heal us.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty Bounties the precision and good timing of the buttons, because if we don’t, we will be victims of a violent attack and we will die immediately. Other than that, there were certain points in the level where you could set checkpoints. The game has a unique system called “morale”, which increases as you defeat enemies and decreases as they attack you. However, this system also applies to enemies, making killing the same enemy an even more likely scenario as they will be more powerful the next time you encounter them. If we manage to defeat him after we can get revenge and achieve new bonuses.
Another important element is that we can choose between five different fighting disciplines, among which we have one dedicated to attack, defense, stealth, support, counterattack and damage. These five disciplines make up the main stats of your character and as you level up one or more of them, we will be able to use much more complete combat.
If we managed to defeat Zhang Liang during the demo, we could be rewarded with a t-shirt and a pin. Sadly, we only got a couple of pins rejoicing over our misfortune of not being able to complete the demo in the allotted time.
Although the writer is not used to playing souls type games, I have to say that I had a great time and will definitely be playing once it comes out. Additionally, a demo on Xbox consoles is now available to everyone until September 26. Completing the demo will reward you with a unique helmet that you can use in the full version of the game.
