FromSoftware pressured itself to make Elden Ring the best looking game from the developer, graphically.
Due to the remake of Demon’s Soul for PlayStation 5, FromSoftware put itself under a lot of pressure to deliver the best graphics for Elden Ring, according to Hidetaka Miyazaki. The studio never really cared about the visual aspects of their games because they were supposed to be story-driven and thus captivate the players.
In an interview with EDGE magazine, FromSoftware President and Elden Ring Director Hidetaka Miyazaki, who was responsible for Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, said:
“Yes, I’m pretty sure that our graphic designers feel this pressure more than anyone else.”
Miyazaki confirmed that graphical fidelity in general is an area that FromSoftware is looking to improve.
“And not just at Elden Ring, but in all of the games we play. Graphic fidelity is not something we consider a top priority. What we ask on the graphical side depends on the systems and requirements of the game itself and has less priority compared to the other elements of development. “
“So that’s always an area where I have to apologize a little to my graphics team because I know they work extremely hard. And they worked extremely hard on Elden Ring – our graphics systems team and our programmers pushed a ton of new features to create the best looking games we’ve ever made. ”
Elden Ring is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X / S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on February 25th.
