Dying Light: The Beast brings back legendary hero Kyle Crane in a new standalone zombie adventure.
Dying Light: The Beast is a gripping standalone zombie adventure set in a new, atmospheric rural region. Play as Kyle Crane, who escapes from captivity after years of brutal experiments. At first he’s out for revenge, but he quickly realizes that there’s much more at stake.
During Opening Night Live at Gamescom, Techland announced Dying Light: The Beast. Dying Light: The Beast is an 18+ hour long standalone zombie adventure set in the post-apocalyptic Castor Woods, a once popular tourist destination. After 13 years of experimentation, you escape and seek revenge. But it soon becomes clear that there is much more at stake than your own vengeance.
Even though the region is not as densely populated as it once was, there are still people and groups here, as well as plenty of zombies. Some will ask you for help, others will want to kill you. And then there is a mysterious creature in the forest that hunts the inhabitants of the valley…
Become a legendary hero
You are Kyle Crane, the man whose selflessness saved many from a fate worse than death during the first virus outbreak. After more than a decade in captivity, you find yourself in a world that has changed, but not for the better. From now on, you must use the survival skills that ensured your survival all those years ago to save even more innocents!
Nearly ten years after the release of the original Dying Light, Techland also announced the return of voice actor Roger Craig Smith to his iconic role as Kyle Crane. “Stepping back into the shoes of Kyle Crane feels like reuniting with an old friend,” said Smith. “And even though he’s been through a terrible time, there’s still plenty of legendary hero in him.”
Explore a densely packed open world
Welcome to Castor Woods! This once thriving tourist destination is home to a dwindling number of survivors and a growing zombie population.
With its natural monuments, small villages and industrial complexes, the environment offers a variety of ways to get around, whether you’re using your parkour skills or jumping into an abandoned off-road vehicle to escape the terrors of the night.
Unleash the beast to survive
They’ve imprisoned you like an animal. Years of brutal experimentation have taken their toll, but the zombie DNA and yours are now so intertwined that you can unleash a bestial power. It flows through your veins. No one can take it away from you. Use it. And you’ll discover it’s not just a curse.
Surviving the night is easier in 4-player co-op
The day offers many opportunities to explore the region and make the most of the time while the sun is still shining. After sunset, however, the laws of nature take their course. The darkness brings out the worst in the Horde and you have no choice but to run, hide or fight.
Sometimes it’s best to join a group, because you never know what you might encounter on your adventure. Team up with up to 4 players in co-op mode, or go solo if you’re brave enough to go it alone.
Ultimate owners get Dying Light: The Beast at no extra cost
Development of Dying Light: The Beast originally began as a story DLC for Dying Light 2 Stay Human. However, after two years of work, the size and scope of the game has changed so much that it has evolved into a standalone, self-contained experience.
To show their appreciation to the community that has patiently waited for the DLC, Techland is offering Dying Light: The Beast to all owners of the Dying Light 2 Stay Human Ultimate Edition at no extra cost, offering a complete standalone adventure rather than just a DLC.
Dying Light: The Beast will be available for PC as well as current and legacy PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Techland will announce more details, including the release date, later this year.
